A MUM who was sick and tired with being branded “lazy” has shared the heartbreaking truth behind her piles of dirty laundry.
Caitlin Fladager, 26, who lives in Vancouver, Canada, is famously candid about her battle with mental health, and admits to self-medicating with marijuana.
Earlier this week, the Instagram star – who boasts over 326,000 followers, shared a video explaining how she struggles to get on with household chores.
Captioning her clip, she wrote: “Mental health matters. We are not just ‘lazy’.”
The video captures the mounting piles of dirty clothes littered all over the mum-of-two’s home as she attempts to tackle the laundry after months of neglect.
Caitlin explains: “I have struggled with depression for years, I always know when it’s getting bad again when my laundry hasn’t been done in months.
“Today I finally forced myself to do it all. It was hard.
“I had to take many breaks and remind myself I am doing the best I can.
“The clutter made my anxiety worse but my depression made me not want to do anything about it.”
After seven hours of work, including a trip to the shop to pick up more hangers, the laundry was clean and put away at long last.
Caitlin added: “When I finished I got very emotional. I did it. It took months for me to but it’s done. Finally.
“Thank you to my husband who never pushed me, only gave me gentle reminders.
“He knew I would do it when I could. When I was ready.”
Fellow mums were quick to praise her honesty, with many admitting they are dealing with the same issues.
“Wow thought it was just me 💚” commented one, with another adding, “ I have the exact same feeling situation problem.”
A third echoed their thoughts, writing: “ I hear this loud and clear. Managed to catch up on laundry recently.”
Caitlin got pregnant with her high school sweetheart Noah when she was 18 years old and the married couple now share two children, Adriana and Jack.
Last year, the mum-of-two insisted that smoking weed actually makes her a BETTER mum.
She wrote: "I have never been the most patient with my two kids.
"Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good nights sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested and with a more clear mind."
In other parenting news, this exhausted mum admits she "needs a break" and misses being "immature and selfish."
And mums are sharing a ‘parenting in lockdown helpline’ & it’s completely relatable.
Plus this mum revealed her pregnancy left her with PTSD – she spent four-and-a-half-months in hospital and was so sick she couldn’t even drink water.
