Downhill is Will Ferrell’s best screen performance for a decade – The Sun

IF you are expecting yet another goofy Will Ferrell comedy, think again. While funny, it is also steeped in poignancy and is his best screen performance for a decade.

In this remake of the excellent Scandi drama Force Majeure, Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are Pete and Billie Staunton on a ski holiday with their two kids.

As the plot unfolds, a brief yet terrifying event causes the pair to question their loyalty and marriage.

What should have been a fun few weeks on the slopes becomes a drawn-out ordeal that any of us who have experienced a domestic on holiday can relate to.

The sniping, the gritted teeth, forced fun, kids who would rather be on the iPad, the finger-pointing . . . you know the drill.

Sprinkle with a surprise visit from a work colleague and you will be chewing the inside of your mouth out. While not holding a torch to the original – do seek it out if you can – I think this has been unfairly mauled (other critics have not enjoyed this very much).

I laughed out loud throughout and enjoyed the chemistry the two leads share on screen. They are excellent. This is more Curb Your Enthusiasm than Elf and it is all the better for it.

A lot of that can be put down to the script co-written by Jesse Armstrong, the showrunner of Succession, on which Ferrell is executive producer.

But the cast made this bitter-sweet comedy dance for me.

Outlander season 5: Marsali star reveals key book scene wasn’t filmed

As the Starz series returns for its highly anticipated fifth season, fans are eagerly awaiting for the events of one of the bloodiest books in the series, The Fiery Cross, to get underway. For better or worse, some sequences won’t make it past Outlander’s cutting room.

The cult series follows the surprising life of Claire Randall (played by Caitriona Balfe), a nurse in the 1940s who is hurled backwards through time after surviving the Second World War.

She ends up in 18th Century Scotland, whereupon she meets and falls in love with the dashing Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Their romance is frequently interrupted by historical conflicts, but luckily Claire’s medical skills developed under the pressure of WWII help her and those around her survive.

During the third season, Claire took on Marsali (Lauren Lyle) as her protégé.

  • Outlander season 5: Brianna Fraser suffers huge loss as Jemmy taken?

Marsali is initially suspicious of Claire, believing her anachronistic medical prowess could be some form of magic.

Thankfully her trust developed and she is now a member of the family.

Diana Gabaldon’s books are known for pushing the limits of sex and violence that other fantasy fare usually won’t touch.

Star Lauren recently spoke up about a particularly controversial sequence in the source material that thankfully won’t be subjected to fans in the upcoming season.

Speaking to Digital Spy she said: “Someone said to me… they tweeted me, they were like: ‘You know that the way you give birth in book five [The Fiery Cross] is post-coital?’ and I was like ‘What the f*** are you talking about?’”

During the interview she laughed jovially but the scene definitely would have been a shock to more sensitive viewers.

The television series has trimmed Marsali’s role as a mother somewhat, but she gives birth to her second daughter, Félicité in the fifth book.

In the adapted series, Marsali’s romance with husband Fergus (César Domboy) is certainly steamy, but Lauren was glad her role in the series wouldn’t push the boundaries that far.

She added: “They tried to tell me that we have sex and immediately I give birth straight away after that, and I was like ‘That’ll be awful!’

“‘If we were to watch that, that would just be… I don’t want to do that at all. I don’t want anyone to see that, that’s a messy process on both sides.'”

Pregnancy sex is certainly not unheard of in film and TV, with some projects trying their best to represent the procedure faithfully.

However, the effects and manoeuvres involved can be complicated and unpleasant for the actors so it was a win for Lauren when she decided she wasn’t up for it.

Luckily she was able to confide to the writers that she didn’t want to do the scene and they happily obliged.

She revealed her desperate plea and continued: “So when I read it I was like ‘That’s… please, please can we not put that in?!'”

She didn’t have to ask twice and fans won’t have to endure the unnecessary messiness.

Outlander airs on Starz in the US on Sundays and Amazon Prime in the US on Mondays.

Georgia and Callum felt “safe” as soon as they began Ex on the Beach — and because of “some cosmic force,” the peak of love lovebirds are now engaged! No more recouplings for these two.

During tonight’s Melted Heart Ceremony, the Love Island‘er and the Ibiza Weekender alum professed their feelings for each other in front of host Romeo Miller. But Callum didn’t just want to give George his a heart — he had a ring on his mind.

“What we have found is more than love,” he told her, as she wiped away tears. “I think I found my soulmate. I love you so much.”

Georgia quickly covered her face, but he instructed her to “open her eyes for a second.”

From there, he got on bended knee and asked her if she would do him the honor of “making him the happiest man alive” and marry him.

Georgia was in complete disbelief — and even asked if he was being serious. But soon enough, the shock wore off and she nodded her head and accepted the sparkler.

“I’m engaged! What the hell?” a giddy Georgia asked in her confessional interview. “Like, that’s amazing.”

Also amazing? Adore’s analysis.

“A f*cking wedding in London,” the RuPaul’s Drag Race alum mused. “They better f*cking invite me. I’m not kidding. I’ll crash that f*cking wedding.”

Donald Trump Goes Off On Comcast At Cabinet Room Meeting: “They’re The Racists”

President Donald Trump went after Comcast during a White House meeting on empowering African Americans.

During a meeting in the Cabinet Room with prominent African American media and sports figures, Trump noted that an NBC News reporter had left the room.

“She just left from NBC because it’s owned by Comcast, and they’re the racists,” Trump said, as participants in the meeting clapped.

According to the White House, the meeting guest list included Candace Owens, actor Isaiah Washington, Alveda King, Diamond and Silk, David Harris Jr. and Deneen Borelli, among others.

Comcast had no comment. Trump did not say why he was criticizing Comcast. He has lately attacked MSNBC as “MSDNC,” in addition to his frequent criticisms of the media. At a rally in Las Vegas last week, he called Comcast a “terrible company, terrible people running that company,” before noting that he hosted Celebrity Apprentice for 14 season and “they used to come to my office and kiss my ass.”

Comcast has long defended its record on diversity, with Lester Holt as the only African American anchor of a broadcast nightly newscast and Kristen Welker among its White House correspondents.

A Supreme Court decision is expected soon in Byron Allen’s racial discrimination lawsuit against Comcast over the carriage of his company’s cable networks. The justices are deciding whether the lawsuit should survive beyond the pleading stage. The Justice Department weighed in on the case siding with Comcast.

Grey's Anatomy Recap: Oh, Hell Snow!

That’s cold, Grey’s Anatomy. Literally cold. Thursday’s “Snowblind” not only smacked Seattle with a blizzard straight out of The Day After Tomorrow, it threatened to turn DeLuca into an Olaf with better hair. Read on — if you think you can stand the goosebumps — and find out how close Andrew came to being iced.

‘WE USUALLY LET THE PARENTS DO THE SCREAMING ON THIS FLOOR’ | As “Snowblind” began, the storm that raged through Station 19 was still going strong. Levi tore through Grey Sloan looking for a patient of Jo’s named Ms. Anderson (that he’d misplaced!), Jackson was flummoxed by his first tiff with Vic during a phone call, and Meredith texted Alex that she knew he wasn’t really in Iowa. So where was he? In Peds, no sooner had Cormac told his 6-year-old patient’s parents that hurrah, Seattle Pres had a new liver for the youngster than he discovered that he couldn’t get said liver because most of the roads in Seattle were closed. Immediately, DeLuca volunteered to retrieve the organ — on foot. Though Meredith fretted aloud that it was eight degrees outside with a wind chill of minus 15, he assured her that he’d was used to cold temps — he’d been a cross-country skier. When she further suggested that maybe he wasn’t thinking straight, he pointed out that Cormac had just been yelling on the phone. Was Hayes sounding like the elder DeLuca now, too?

While Cormac and Meredith operated on the little girl, whose condition was looking, ahem, liver-die, Grey filled him in on the circumstances surrounding her firing and found him to be supportive. They also discussed Cristina and Alex a little, and mid-surgery, learned that DeLuca had made it to Seattle Pres and had just left for Grey Sloan with the McGuffin. Time passing, they discussed losing their spouses; he’d run to Switzerland; her, San Francisco. Holy crap, just then, DeLuca came in from the cold with the liver — the idiot hadn’t worn gloves for his one-man performance of The Iceman Cometh! And from the looks of his digits, he could lose some fingers — not a great thing for a surgeon! Though DeLuca insisted it was no big deal, Jackson warned that if he didn’t follow his orders starting right then, he could lose one or both of his hands.

‘SHOULD I HAVE HIS JOB, LOSING PEOPLE?’ | Entering the doctors lounge, Teddy and Maggie tried to keep quiet for the sake of Link, who after awakening on the couch reported that Amelia wasn’t coming to work, much less returning his calls or texts. (Basically, a replay of DeLuca after he’d been dumped by Sam.) Quickly, Maggie shushed Link, lest he let on that Teddy’s fiancé might be Amelia’s babydaddy. So of course, in came Tom, who unwittingly said just enough about Amelia’s leave to make Teddy suspicious. Later, Teddy and Maggie teamed up with Owen to treat a pregnant woman whose wife had accidentally hit her with her car. Meanwhile, Bailey’s interest in Joey high as ever, she was upset to learn that Link had discharged the young man and further upset to learn that he’d turned down a chance to speak to a social worker about his options. He was 18, he pointed out. Therefore, he didn’t have to.

Rather than let Joey take a job at the local burger joint, Bailey insisted that he come with her — they’d find him something at Grey Sloan. During her version of a job fair, Joey observed the trauma that went down as Owen made the decision to perform a C-section in hopes of saving the mom-to-be and her baby. She was also going to need heart surgery! Miraculously, mother and child both pulled through. Witnessing this, Joey was deeply impressed. Post-surgery, Teddy admitted to Tom that she was worried that Owen was Amelia’s babydaddy. Sweetly, Koracick reassured the woman that he loves that Hunt loved her and only her; she didn’t have to worry about Amelia. He went on to admit that he knew people disliked him, and he secretly hated it. She didn’t — “I like you… a lot,” she said. (Oh, you could just feel his heart breaking all over again. Or maybe that was just mine.)

‘LET’S SHOW YOUR CLASSMATES WHAT YOU’RE MADE OF’ | In the residents lab, Richard finally found one in whom he could take an interest: Tess Desmond, who hated the way her peers treated their jobs as if they were slumming, working retail. She even impressed him with her compassionate treatment of a patient who was worried about her pets — to the point that he passed over a miffed Helm to let her perform a lap choly on the sister of a late patient of Alex’s. Tess was just about to make an incision when Levi spotted her and raced in — holy crap, she wasn’t a resident at all, she was his missing patient, Ms. Anderson. Afterwards, Jo and Richard reassured Tess that her kind of cancer was very treatable. But this was her fourth type of cancer — people were losing interest, she said. Everyone’s lives went on, but hers came to a crawl. So she’d seized the chance to live her dream during the storm. “What happened?” Taryn asked when she saw her rival in a hospital gown. “It doesn’t concern you,” Webber told her. What did concern her was the fact that she was back on the lap choly. Later, Richard encouraged Tess not to give up on her dream of finishing med school. If she could survive four cancers, she could definitely do that. He also admitted that he was having trouble with his hands — it could mean the end of his medical career. He seemed to think that it did, that was for sure. He gave Tess his stethoscope and said, “I don’t need it anymore.”

‘THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE COOLEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN’ | In other developments, things remained tense between Levi and Nico — at least on Levi’s side. Nico, on the other hand, was eager to put behind them the fact that he wasn’t out to his parents. As the hour drew to a close, Jackson told DeLuca that the next 12 hours were critical; they’d decide whether he lost a hand, digits… or nothing. Despite his dire situation, he hollered at Carina and Meredith when they expressed concern about his mental state. He didn’t suggest that Grey had Alzheimer’s every time she forgot something, he pointed out. Bailey finally suggested that Joey come home with her while he finished high school. She had an extra room, extra food, extra love and “a husband who will understand… eventually.” Happily, he agreed. After overhearing the new mom’s wife say that she’d seen the baby and “she is so you,” Teddy asked Maggie, “Am I crazy? Am I seeing stuff that isn’t there” in this Amelia situation. “You aren’t crazy,” Maggie replied. (Has she ever been able to keep a secret?!?)

Jackson and Maggie kissed up and made up after their spat, but Levi was itching for one with Nico. He didn’t feel like their relationship was real, given the way his boyfriend kept trying to shut him up with sex. In response, Nico said that he was sick of Levi trying to change him. If he wasn’t enough as is, then… OK, OK, Schmitt said. You’re enough. Then, wait… whaaaaat? Teddy showed up at Tom’s and freaking kissed him. Oh, Teddy, not cool! When Ben got home, he was surprised to find Joey playing videogames with Tuck. And Jo opened her door expecting to see Alex. It was just Link, bringing donuts and despair. “He left me,” Jo exclaimed. “I think he woke up one day and felt the need to escape his life and me… I called his mom. He wasn’t there. He’d never been there. He left me… and I can’t… breathe.” Damn, it’s been a rough season for Jo. And Cormac asked Mer what DeLuca is to him. “He’s one of my firsts,” she admitted — the first person she’d said “I love you” to after Derek. “I’ve been lonely,” he confessed. He’d never met someone like her, who’d also been widowed so young. “She talked about having a twisted sister,” he added of Cristina. “I’m guessing that’s you.”

Will Bambi's Mom Die in Disney's Live-Action Adaptation?

There are a few infamous Disney moments that go down in history. Mufasa in The Lion King, Bing Bong in Inside Out and, of course, Bambi’s mom in Disney’s animated movie, Bambi. What will happen in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Bambi? Will one scene be included in this version? Here’s what we know about this upcoming “live-action” Disney reboot.

Disney is creating a live-action adaptation of the 1942 animated film, ‘Bambi’

With the success of photo-real remakes like The Jungle Book and The Lion King, Disney has another live-action adaptation in the works. Recently, the studio announced they’re creating a new version of Bambi, presumably using the same CGI technology of their 2019 release, The Lion King.

The original version of this film, released in 1942, tells the story of one young deer as he navigates the forest. He meets a few friends along the way and, with the help of his mother, learns how to walk and stay safe.

The cast list for ‘Bambi’ has not yet been revealed by Disney

Disney has not yet revealed who will be voicing characters like Bambi and Thumper. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider) and Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Chaos Walking) will write the script. There’s no official premiere date for this film yet, but other live-action adaptations like Mulan and The Little Mermaid will make their theatrical debut within the next few years.

It’s also unclear if this film will premiere exclusively on Disney’s streaming platform, similar to their 2019 release, Lady and the Tramp. Once news broke of Bambi, some fans shared their thoughts on social media primarily regarding Bambi and the character’s mother.

Disney fans shared their concern for this one potential scene in the live-action version of ‘Bambi’

It may be a movie for children, but that doesn’t mean Bambi strays away from darker themes. The original version of this film included one scene of the deer as he discovers that his mother has been shot by hunters.

Disney has not made any statement regarding whether or not Bambi’s mother is killed in this live-action adaptation. However, because other Disney live-action remakes included controversial scenes (Mufasa’s death among them,) some believe that Bambi’s mom will suffer the same fate. Some took to social media, sharing their thoughts on this live-action reboot.

“There [are] 3 perfectly awesome Disney movies that could actually benefit from a live-action remake. But instead, we’re remaking The Lady and the Tramp, Bambi, and… Pinocchio,” one Twitter user said.

“Disney is apparently working on a remake of Bambi. Oh goodie. I’m not looking forward to it since I really don’t want Disney to keep remaking their animated classics and that it’s also gonna spawn another debate on whether it’s live-action or animated like that Lion King remake,” another Twitter user wrote.

Until then, fans can watch the original Bambi, and other classic Disney films, on the company’s streaming platform. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.

The girl group, who are known for their risque performances, have previously been hit by Ofcom complaints following their reunion performance on The X Factor when they debuted their comeback single, React.

They were mocking the singers after their X Factor performance received an eye-watering 802 complaints to the television watchdog giant.

Despite Ant and Dec parading around with the censor placards , the Jai Ho singers continued with their routine – forcing the Geordie duo to intervene with a "censor button" which also failed to halt the group.

As the group who reunited at the end of 2019 started their performance donning revealing black outfits, Ant and Dec watched on from the audience but dived out of their seats when the quintet started gyrating.

  • Ant and Dec forced to censor The Pussycat Dolls during raunchy performance

In a bid to stop the performance all together, they went as far as to display a fake sign replicating one used by ITV reading: "Sorry for the disruption".

But, seeing the funny side, Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta and Carmit Bachar tore through the huge sign and got on with their routine.

Stranger Things season 4: Will Byers set for romance as actor drops huge clue

Season three of the Netflix series went full Cold War thriller as the gang investigated a Russian plot beneath the Starcourt Mall. A recent Stranger Things promo revealed the surprising return of Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour), but amidst the usual sci fi thrills there may be time for another blossoming romance.

The second season of Stranger Things introduced the possibilities of high school romance as the cast of teens began ditching Dungeons and Dragons.

Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) got together during the school dance, although their relationship hit some rocky roads in the third season.

After being abducted into the sinister parallel dimension known as the Upside Down, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) hasn’t had much time to kick back and be a normal teen.

Fortunately that may all be about to change as the star revealed some tantalising info for what fans could see in the upcoming season.

  • Stranger Things season 4: Erica Sinclair plays major role?

The interview made reference to an agitated exchange between the friends, in which Mike snaps at Will: “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!”

Following this line, some fans were speculating that Will could be gay or asexual, and Noah has finally given his thoughts.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Noah said: “There’s nothing set in stone – some people perceive it as Will could be gay, asexual or whatever.

“Or, like how I see it, he was stuck in the Upside Down, and he was away for so long that all of his friends started growing up while he was in this other world.”

Indeed, compared to his other friends Will has definitely had a stalled adolescence.

When he returned from his transdimensional trip, he was still keen to keep playing D&D while his friends were less enthusiastic.

Noah added: “He wasn’t ready to face this maturity and get into relationships. So, I think that’s what Will is going through right now.”

The series set a precedent in the third season with the introduction of new character Robin (Maya Hawke), who revealed she was gay to an understanding Steve (Joe Keery).

Rick and Morty season 4: Reason for delay revealed [INTERVIEW]
Lucifer season 5 theories: Lucifer transforms into angel? [THEORY]

Whether or not the fourth season will confirm Will as another LGBTQ character for the series is uncertain, but Noah’s comments definitely indicate that the cast of kids will start maturing even more than they already have.

No new cast members have been announced, but fans could see the introduction of another high schooler who may become a new love interest for Will.

Now that Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) may have found the girl of his dreams in Suzie, his Science Camp girlfriend most of his buddies assumed he had been making up.

She was finally revealed to be real in the season finale, leaving only Will and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) left single.

  • Stranger Things season 4: Hopper betrays Eleven?

There has already been major romantic drama throughout the show thanks to the angsty love triangle between Steve, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Will’s brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton).

The string of romantic interplay has become as much a staple of Stranger Things as its countless 80s references, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a new love interest for Will.

No release date has yet been set for Stranger Things season for, but with production currently underway love and monsters are definitely in the air.

Stranger Things is available to stream on Netflix.

Peter Andre celebrates 47th birthday with all his children as wife Emily lays on epic three-course dinner – The Sun

PETER Andre celebrated his 47th birthday with all of his children as wife Emily laid on an epic three-course dinner.

The star shared an insight into his cosy family evening on his Instagram Story, gushing over his 30-year-old wife's cooking.

Filming a pea, chilli and coriander soup, which was served with fresh bread, Peter gushed: "Three course dinner for all of us prepared by my beautiful Emily."

Addressing his 12-year-old daughter Princess, Pete continued: "Bista, this is going to be awesome."

Next up was salmon with chilli and peanut sauce and sticky rice, with Emily telling her husband: "It's got a really crazy dressing I made, and sticky rice – I have never made sticky rice before."

Finally, Emily rustled up a lime and coconut cake, with Peter unable to hide his excitement as he repeatedly thanked his partner and told her how "amazing" it looked.

Princess agreed, muttering: "It looks so good", with 14-year-old Junior also heard telling his stepmum: "Ems, I'm not going to lie, that actually looks amazing."

Emily thanked her family and asked Princess to get some plates, with the schoolgirl left mortified when she realised that her hands were caught on her famous dad's Insta Story.

She exclaimed: "My hands look gross", with Peter unable to resist teasing her as he replied: "You're not going for hand modelling!"

Peter and Emily's three-year-old son Theo appeared to have helped Emily make the dessert, with Peter telling his son "well done" as Junior asked Emily questions about how she made it.

Peter then asked the toddler: "Theo, do you like it?"

With the little boy sweetly exclaiming: "Yes, daddy, daddy!"

Peter and Emily are also mum and dad to six-year-old daughter Amelia, with Princess and Junior Peter's children from his previous marriage to Katie Price.

Junior took to his Instagram page earlier this evening to pay touching tribute to his dad on his big day.

Sharing a photo of the pair in the middle of a forest, the teen gushed: "Happy birthday to the best dad to ever step foot on this earth.

"You can sometimes be bare embarrassing. You can sometimes be bare wet. your a LFG. (Little friendly giant) but most of all, you have a lotta love. And that’s why you're the best dad.

"You do so much for me, and so much for others. You're so unselfish (unless it’s your coffee) you're so 'funny'. And you give everything to your family and friends. I love you so much."

He cheekily added at the end: "Jheeeeee imagine being 47".

Peter was touched by the moving tribute, commenting: "What an awesome message. Thanks son. Love you (am I being wet again?)".

Peter previously revealed that he took his two older children to Australia for half term last week, where they got to spend some time with their grandparents and extended family.
