BET Network announced Thursday that Beyoncé will be honored with the prestigious Humanitarian Award at the 20th annual BET Awards.
Beyoncé, who is one of the most successful artists with over 100 million records sold worldwide and has acted in several films, is also a philanthropist who has created several humanitarian initiatives.
They include the “Formation Scholars” scholarship, the ‘BeyGood4Burundi’ partnership with UNICEF and the Homecoming Scholars Award Program.
Recently, Beyoncé teamed up with her mother Tina Knowles Lawson for the #IDIDMYPART mobile testing initiative to encourage residents in Houston in black and brown communities affected by COVID-19.
“20th Annual BET Awards honor prolific activists in the Black community and recognizing those who unfortunately left us in 2020,” BET Networks said in a statement.
In memory of the losses of NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Little Richard, superstar Lil’ Wayne will give tribute to Kobe and the multi-talented Wayne Brady will honor Little Richard.
