EastEnders is due to resume filming within weeks

EastEnders will resume filming within weeks with a ‘limited crew and cast members doing their own hair and make-up’ after the coronavirus crisis ground the TV industry to a halt

  • Here’s how to help people impacted by Covid-19

EastEnders is set to resume filming by the end of June, a BBC boss has confirmed.

Charlotte Moore, the broadcaster’s director of content, said the BBC One soap would be up and running again within weeks, along with Top Gear.

Her statement came after production was halted on the show due to the coronavirus pandemic and a day after MailOnline confirmed ITV’s Coronation Street is in the final stages of a ‘return-to-production protocol’.

We’re going back to Walford: EastEnders is due to resume filming within weeks after the show was halted due to coronavirus… as BBC boss says ‘crews will be limited’

Moore told The Telegraph: ‘We’ve been looking carefully at how we can safely put some of our shows back into production, and I’m pleased to announce that we plan to begin filming again on both EastEnders and Top Gear by the end of June.

‘We’re also exploring ways to restart shooting on dramas and other major BBC shows.’

She added: ‘Of course, we will work within Government guidelines. Crews will be strictly limited. Cast members will do their own hair and make-up.

‘Social distancing will be in place.’

Filming on BBC shows such as Line Of Duty, Peaky Blinders and Call The Midwife has also come to a halt.

The BBC reduced the number of pre-filmed EastEnders episodes it aired a week to make them last as long as possible.

Controller of BBC drama Piers Wenger previously said the broadcaster hoped to resume filming on soaps ‘as soon as possible’.

Wenger pointed to the example of Australian soap Neighbours, which has resumed filming but with social distancing rules in place and other limitations, including banning kissing on set.

‘We’re not quite at that point yet,’ he said. ‘But all of those conversation are being had and there is a real determination to get that show back up and running.’

A spokesperson for Coronation Street exclusively told MailOnline they are in ‘active discussions with the government’ and are working with ‘others across the industry’ to return.

The British television industry was left at a standstill in March after all filming was suspended to follow regulations amid the coronavirus crisis.

Ministers hinted on Tuesday night that production can start again as long as cast members and crew follow social distancing rules on set.

A Coronation Street representative exclusively told MailOnline: ‘ITV is in the final stages of working with others across the industry on a return-to-production protocol and we are in active discussions with Government on this.

‘We will share further updates in due course.’

Prime Minister Boris Johnson encouraged some sectors to head back to work earlier this week in a tentative three-stage ‘exit plan’, if working from home cannot be done. By this definition, this would include being on film sets.

While a spokesman for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport told Screen Daily: ‘The Government is working closely with the screen sector to understand how different types of productions can comply with social distancing guidelines, and give confidence to people in the TV and film industries that there are safe ways in which they can return to work.’

It has since been claimed that BBC shows such as Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty will return to filming but have to adhere to social distancing regulations.

Suspended: Emmerdale announced in March that filming has been suspended to adhere to social distancing and government regulations amid the coronavirus crisis

Emmerdale announced in March that filming has been suspended to adhere to social distancing and government regulations amid the coronavirus crisis.

A representative declined to comment to MailOnline about what plans are in place for the ITV soap to return to filming and how social distancing measures will be followed on set.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo previously said the soap will remain on screens until the end of May and it’s likely older cast members won’t return to set for sometime, this could include Eric Pollard actor Chris Chittell, 71.

Meanwhile, Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks is said to have enough episodes to last until the end of July and has scaled back its weekly shows from five to just two.

Director of programming for Channel 4, Ian Katz, said: ‘The coronavirus outbreak is an enormous creative challenge for all broadcasters and though it is having a profound impact on getting some of our productions onto screen, when public service broadcasters like Channel 4 can step up and help people navigate through the extraordinary challenges we all now face.’

The Walking Dead season 10: Finale becomes 'mini-movie' after coronavirus delay?

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead. Read at your own risk.**

The Walking Dead season 10 finale was put on hold as the coronavirus outbreak forced more and more countries into lockdown.

However, the delay might have paid off in fans’ favour, as Negan star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has teased the last installment is a ‘mini-movie’.

When chatting to Entertainment Weekly, the 54-year-old opened up on plans for the zombie hit and gave an insight as to what fans can expect later on down the line.

‘It will be cool having a one-off, almost a Walking Dead movie in the middle of the season, I guess,’ he said of the upcoming episode.

Teasing what’s to come, the actor added: ‘I think obviously things are going to come to some sort of a head with the Beta and his character.

‘We know he’s coming to wipe everybody out with his zombie horde so hopefully we’ll see that come to a head at some point.

‘There has to be some sort of battle. Greg Nicotero directed it, so it’s going to be a big massive episode for sure.’

The producer, Greg, has also revealed big things are on their way when talking to Den Of Geek.

He explained: ‘We were right on the cusp of just about finishing the episode when everybody had to stop work. And it’s not like you can do a lot of that stuff remotely.

‘I looked at all the visual effects stuff that was coming in when we were shooting because there was a lot of VFX for the finale, and everything looked magnificent.’

The 57-year-old went on: ‘It’s just a matter of waiting until we can basically mix all the ingredients. I don’t know when that’s going to be.

‘But I think once people get a chance to go back to work, it’s probably a week and a half or two weeks of fine-tuning.’

The TV industry has come to a halt during the current crisis, seeing the likes of Riverdale, Lucifer and even the Friends reunion special put on hold for the foreseeable future.

As it stands, more than 28,000 people have died from Covid-19 with over 177,000 coronavirus cases confirmed in the UK alone.

Boris Johnson has said he will publish a strategy in the coming week of how the government will start to ease lockdown.

The Walking Dead season 10 finale will air later this year on AMC and NOW TV.

You Can Vacation Where They Filmed ‘Too Hot To Handle’ If You’re Rich

You probably won’t think much while watching Netflix’s latest wild dating show, Too Hot To Handle. But you might end up asking (yourself, or anyone within reasonable vicinity) some questions. Will Harry and Francesca ever get on the same page? What about Sharron and Rhonda? What’s the deal with this Bryce guy? But another natural question might come from the show’s objectively beautiful setting. Where are they for all of this madness? The answer is at a private villa in Punta Mita, Mexico called Casa Tau.

Punta Mita is a tiny is a private peninsula located on Mexico’s southwest coast, and the whole thing is only 1,500 square miles. In addition to the villa where Too Hot To Handle was filmed, Punta Mita also has a few super-luxurious hotels, including The Four Seasons (this one is owned by Bill Gates) and the St. Regis.

According to Oprah Mag, the show’s producers looked hard for a location, and landed on Punta Mita and Casa Tau. “Netflix executives were like, ‘Find the most beautiful place in the world,'” series creator Laura Gibson said. “We went everywhere. There was a really high bar—and this was the one.”

If you find yourself watching Too Hot To Handle and wanting to experience that Casa Tau locale for yourself, the good news is that you totally can. The bad news, though, is that according to TripAdvisor, it’ll cost you $15,660 a night. The villa does come with 12 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, at least, along with working butlers, a wait staff, and a private chef to cook your meals.

Many celebrities you’ve heard of have dabbled with this sort of a vacation; according to The Hollywood Reporter, Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, and Selena Gomez, are among those who spent time at a private Punta Mita villa like this, and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spent their second honeymoon there too. The peninsula has even been the locale in major movies, such as Limitless (with Bradley Cooper) and Elysium (with Matt Damon).

It’s clear from watching the show that while dealing with the no-contact rules was a challenge, no one ever had any complaints about where they were staying or how they were spending any of their time. In fact, it seems like Harry Jowsey (of Harry and Francesca fame) had such a good time that he couldn’t stop thinking about it—he commented on one of the resort’s Instagram posts back in March, saying that it was “So gorgeous”.

So when you’re watching Too Hot To Handle and feeling whatever you might feel about the show, and the contestants, and, well, everything else going on, at least you can feel solace in knowing that where they’re staying is very much a real place. And for just over *checks notes* $15,000 a night, and nearly 30 friends, you can have that same vacation too.

Victoria Beckham blames dog Fig for embarrassing fart in Instagram video as David claims it was her – The Sun

DAVID Beckham has poked fun at wife Victoria for farting while making a cake in their home today.

The famous couple were documenting the creation of a lemon drizzle cake when an unusual noise played out in the background, which Victoria, 45, blamed on their dog Fig.

Sharing a string of clips to her Instagram Stories, the former Spice Girls singer revealed they had turned to baking amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Shortly into the video, the pair were interrupted by an unusual sound in the background.

Victoria claimed the noise was made by their dog Fig.

She laughed: "That's the dog! That was the dog making that noise."

David, 44, replied: "Don't lie. Seriously, we know you had baked beans for lunch."

The married couple ended the baking segment by insisting the lemony treat was a "success" as they proudly showed off the masterpiece.

Love Island’s Paige reveals Finn ignored government advice and drove 6 hours to go into coronavirus quarantine with her – The Sun

LOVE Island's Paige Turley has revealed her boyfriend Finn Tapp ignored government advice and drove six hours to go into coronavirus quarantine with her.

The couple were forced apart when Paige headed back home to West Lothian while Finn was 400 miles away in Milton Keynes.

After Boris Johnson put the country on lockdown on Monday, Finn got on the motorway and drove up to stay with Paige as they couldn't bear to go three weeks without each other.

Sharing a sweet video of the pair cuddled up together, Paige said on Instagram: "The reason I have done a disappearing act the last couple of days… I was catching up with this stranger.

"P.S He drove six hours to Scotland to isolate with me."

The loved up couple were recently locked in talks about plans to move to Manchester together or head to Finn's hometown of MK.

The proud Scot never thought she'd up sticks and move down south, but after falling for footballer Finn on the ITV2 show she knows she has to compromise.

But coronavirus has delayed any movement on where they'll settle.

Instead Finn has moved in with Paige and her parents for the three-week quarantine.

He's already ignored government advice in the last few weeks.

Despite being told to practise social distancing, Finn hit the pub with his mates last week.

After Paige headed back to Scotland, he caught up his friends by popping down to his local, the Fox & Hounds in Stony Stratford, to play darts and have a few pints.

He was aware of the coronavirus risk pointing out the lads had a bottle of hand sanitiser on their table.

‘Black Widow’ Is The Latest Film To Be Delayed Due To Coronavirus

The impact of the coronavirus outbreak is spreading almost as fast as the virus itself. And with several highly anticipated blockbuster films like Mulan and A Quiet Place Part 2 already postponing their release dates, it should come as no surprise to hear that Disney announced on Tuesday, March 17, as per The Hollywood Reporter, that Black Widow‘s release date has been delayed as concerns for the ongoing pandemic continues to grow.

Originally, the film, which stars Scarlett Johansson in the titular role, was scheduled to hit theaters in North America on May 1, but now it seems Marvel fans will have to wait a bit longer to catch a glimpse of Black Widow’s backstory. The studio has yet to reschedule the release date for a future point in time. Bustle reached out to representatives for Marvel and Scarlett Johansson for comment, but did not receive any immediate responses.

This isn’t the first film Disney has decided to postpone in the wake of the coronavirus. The releases of Searchlight Pictures’ The Personal History of David Copperfield, starring Dev Patel, as well as 20th Century’s Woman in the Window, starring Amy Adams, have both been pushed back to undetermined launch dates as well. This is also true for the studio’s other upcoming films, including The New Mutants and Antlers.

Meanwhile, Universal opted to shift the ninth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise from May of this year to April 2021. Paramount pulled a similar move with A Quiet Place Part 2, delaying its release just eight days before it was scheduled to hit theaters. Mulan was given the same kind of treatment, announcing that its original March 27 release had been postponed. Additionally, the James Bond film No Time To Die moved its release from April to November earlier this month.

Some theaters still remain open at this time, however, it’s going to continue to be more and more difficult to go to the theater in the coming weeks. On Monday, March 16, two of the nation’s biggest theater chains, Regal Cinemas and AMC Theaters, announced that all of their theaters will shut indefinitely to help implement social distancing and preventing their patrons from spreading the virus to one another.

The only remaining Disney productions that still have their originally scheduled release dates this spring are Artemis Fowl, which is scheduled to come out on Friday, May 29, and Pixar’s Soul that’s slated to launch on Friday, June 19. However, depending upon how long this national health crisis lasts, they too could end up getting bumped to a later date.

If you think you’re showing symptoms of coronavirus, which include fever, shortness of breath, and coughing, call NHS 111 in the UK or visit the CDC website in the U.S. for up-to-date information and resources. You can find all Bustle’s coverage of coronavirus here, and UK-specific updates on coronavirus here.

White Sox Give Yoan Moncada Five-Year, $70 Million Extension

The Chicago White Sox have been one of the most active teams since the start of free agency, but this time, they went to work in retaining one of their core players long-term.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, the White Sox and Yoan Moncada agreed on a five-year extension worth $70 million. The new contract also has a sixth-year option which could bring the total to $90 million.

This comes two months after Chicago handed another budding start, Luis Robert, a lucrative extension with a max value of $88 million. Like Moncada, Robert is considered a giant part of Chicago’s promising future.

The White Sox complemented their young core by adding veteran All-Star slugger Edwin Encarnacion on a one-year pact and stud catcher Yasmani Grandal on a four-year, $73 million contract.

Widely regarded as the top prospect in baseball before he joined the White Sox on a full-time basis, Moncada has batted .266 through his first three full seasons, with 50 total home runs and 163 RBI.

Moncada signed with the Boston Red Sox in 2015, but he was traded two years later to the White Sox in a blockbuster deal that sent All-Star pitcher Chris Sale to Beantown. Victor Diaz, Luis Alexander Basabe and fastball specialist Michael Kopech also joined the White Sox in the deal.

Moncada hasn’t reached superstar status yet, but he showed signs of breaking out in 2019 after hitting .315 with 25 homers, 79 RBI and an OPS of .915. He finished the season with a 4.6 wins above replacement.

The White Sox finished with a 72-89 record in 2019, but they figure to compete for a playoff spot in a wild open American League. Chicago has a lot of work to do in catching up to the defending AL Central champion Minnesota Twins, but a wild card berth is certainly realistic.

With Moncada and Robert signed long-term, and with the White Sox working extensively to add more productive veterans to their roster, it won’t be long until this team emerges as a World Series contender.

Adèle Haenel Walks Out of César Awards After Roman Polanski Win: 'Bravo, Pedophilia'

The “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” actress says she was sexually abused as a 12-year-old

“Portrait of a Lady on Fire” actress Adèle Haenel walked out of the César Film Awards in protest on Friday after Roman Polanski won the best director award for his film “J’accuse,” known outside of France as “An Officer and a Spy.”

“Bravo, pedophilia,” Haenel shouted in the lobby after leaving the theater. “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” director Celine Sciamma also walked out.

Polanski was arrested in 1977 and charged with raping and drugging a 13-year-old girl. Polanski later accepted a deal in which he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of unlawful sexual intercourse, and underwent 42 days or court-ordered psychiatric evaluation to determine his sentence. He fled the country in 1978 without reappearing in court and his supporters have since claimed the judge intended to have him imprisoned and then deported. (Under US law, judges have authority to reject a plea deal.)

Polanski has since been accused by other women of rape, including one who says she was only 15 at the time.

Haenel, in November, filed a sexual harassment complaint against Christophe Ruggia, accusing the director of sexually harassing her when she was 12 years old and appeared in his 2002 film “The Devils.” The abuse — which included “forced kisses” — continued until she was 15 years old, she told investigative journal Mediapart.

Shortly after the publication of the Mediapart article, the Paris prosecutors’ office opened a preliminary investigation “sexual aggression on a minor carried out by someone in authority,” according to CNN. Ruggia was also removed from the Société des réalisateurs de films, the French directors’ association that he helped lead, which declared its support for Haenel.

Haenel initially said she hadn’t planned to file a formal complaint out of concern over how French authorities would handle the case, but was said she was compelled to come forward with her accusations after watching “Leaving Neverland,” the documentary about Michael Jackson and his alleged abuse of young boys.

“Now that the judiciary has opened an investigation, I won’t hide the fact that I will do everything in my power to see this process through to the end. What I hope for now personally is support and compensation from the justice system,” Haenel said in a statement via translation.

Before Haenel even walked out of the Salle Pleyel where the César awards were being held, protesters had lined the streets outside, protesting the nominations for Roman Polanski’s film.

Polanski won two Cesar awards, one for best director and another for adapted screenplay, which he shared with his co-writer Robert Harris. His film also won for its costumes.

Although “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” was one of the year’s most acclaimed French films and had gone into the Cesar ceremony with 10 nominations, it only won one award, for cinematography. Immediately before Polanski won the directing award, for which Sciamma was also nominated, Haenel and her co-star Noemie Merlant had both lost in the best-actress category to Anais Demoustier for “Alice and the Mayor.”

Monster Hunter Movie's First Posters Feature Very Big Weapons

Director Paul WS Anderson made no fewer than six Resident Evil movies with star (and wife) Milla Jovovich. The pair have now moved on to another big video game adaptation–Monster Hunter–which hits theaters in September. The first posters have been released.

There are two posters. One shows Jovovich in the role of Lieutenant Artemis, while the other has Thai martial arts star Tony Jaa as a character simply known as The Hunter. Fans of the game will immediately recognise the weapons on display here–Jovovich is wielding what seems to be the Giant Jawblade, while Jaa is holding a bow that could well be the Great Hunter’s Bow. Check them out below:

Monster Hunter’s story focuses on a group of human soldiers–led by Artemis–who are transported to an alien world populated by monsters. Artemis and The Hunter must team up to fight back against the terrifying creatures. The cast also includes Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman and rapper-turned-actor T.I. Harris, and the movie releases on September 4.

The Resident Evil series made more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and even though it has now finished, a reboot is in development.
