Harry Styles Shares ‘Watermelon Sugar’ Video ‘Dedicated To Touching’

Harry Styles released a video for “Watermelon Sugar,” the fourth single from his solo album, Fine Line on Monday.

The Bradley & Pablo-directed visual, shot before social distancing measures went into effect, begins with a slide that reads, “This video is dedicated to touching.” The video shows Styles hosting a sensual, fruit-filled picnic for pretty beachside ladies in Malibu.

“DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME,” Styles had tweeted while promoting the video. “Practice social distancing.”

“Strawberries on a summer evening/ Baby you’re the end of June/ I want your belly and that summer feeling/ Getting washed away with you/ Breathe me in, breathe me out/ I don’t know if I could ever go without/ Watermelon sugar high,” Styles sings as the bikini-clad models feed him the titular fruit and kiss him on the cheek.

True to the slide displayed at the start, the party indeed gets more touchy as it goes on. The video ends with Styles assembling his beach band for a group picture.

Styles had released the tune as a promo track during a “Saturday Night Live” performance in November 2019. The song peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 ahead of its release as an official single.

“It’s probably the longest it’s ever taken me to finish a song,” the singer said during an NPR Tiny Desk concert in March. “We kind of liked it when we first had it and then I really hated for a long time … It kept coming back into the mix. It’s kind of about that initial first euphoria when you start seeing someone.”

“Watermelon Sugar” was certified platinum by the RIAA earlier this month.

Sia Talks About Getting Flirty With Harry Styles: ‘I Felt Dizzy’

Sia is opening up about the one time Harry Styles got fliratious with her at a concert many years ago.

Speaking to The Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM, the now 44-year-old musician revealed that the moment happened when Harry was just 21 and she was 35.

“He was just this young, cute, little charismatic person,” Sia shared with the group on the show. “I didn’t know at the time who he was.”

She went on, “He’s super flirtatious and I realized who he was and I introduced myself to him and he was like ‘Oh, I know’.”

Sia first opened up about the moment during a chat with Interview magazine (via).

“That little chap has some moves because he’s got swag. He got me when I was like 35 or something, and he was 21,” she revealed, adding that she got dizzy around him. “I’ve heard it from a lot of girls. He’s got the smooth moves because he’s a charming young chappy. But certainly, I felt like I went bright red.”

Harry Styles Brings Some 'Watermelon Sugar' to NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

This is Harry Styles stripped down. Unfortunately, it’s not in the same way as that Rolling Stone photo shoot. No, this is the 26-year-old sartorially fluid music icon with just a microphone, guitar, and modest backup band for NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series.

The likes of Taylor Swift, Lizzo (the same Lizzo he once joined for “Juice”), and Carly Rae Jepsen have appeared at NPR’s offices over the years to perform sets from behind tiny desks. Hence the series name. And now it’s Styles turn. Call it a nice reprieve from the coronavirus dominating the news cycle and halting our lives.

Style played a set featuring “Cherry,” “Watermelon Sugar” (the longest it has taken for him to finish a song, he says), “To Be So Lonely,” and “Adore You” (complete with swivel chair dancing), all tracks off his most recent Fine Line album.

“I have to come into NPR more often. It’s nice here,” he remarked.

In a lead-up to the performance — which was pre-recorded days earlier, by the way, for those concerned about coronavirus — the singer talked about his fandom for the Green Bay Packers. “When I about 6 years old, I fell off my bike and I cut my knee and I bled green and gold and that was it. I just knew,” he joked. “Actually, when I first started traveling to Los Angeles, I would stay with a friend from Appleton, Wisconsin. Those were the first games that I watched.”

“They’re also the only NFL team owned by the fans, so I like that,” he added.

Harry Styles Reveals the Biggest Compliment Fans Could Ever Give Him

E! News

Harry Styles just adores his fans.

The superstar singer took the stage for an intimate performance at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Saturday night, as part of iHeartRadio‘s Secret Session with Harry Styles. The event, hosted by Tanya Rad, is set to broadcast on iHeartMedia’s CHR and Hot AC radio stations across the country and Hit Nation on Sunday, March 1. During his time on the stage, Styles performed a number of his songs off of his hit Fine Line album, from “Golden” to “Adore You” and “Watermelon Sugar,” as well as “Falling.” The 26-year-old singer also delighted fans with “Sign of the Times” and “Kiwi,” off of his debut solo album.

Before serenading the audience, Styles sat down for a Q&A with host Rad, during which he opened up about the “vulnerable” lyrics in Fine Line.

“I think what I like about it is really when I start making stuff, I don’t think about it coming out. I don’t think about album release date, first single, second single,” Styles explained. “I don’t really think about it. I start off writing it for me and for you [the audience]. I start off writing it for myself and I just find that I make more honest music that way.”

“I think there are a lot of parts of it that are vulnerable and emotional and I guess sad at times,” Styles said of the album lyrics. “But I think what I love about the album so much is that, I think even in the saddest moments there’s quite a lot of optimism and there’s like moments of joy and that stuff. I think the exciting thing with music is that, that doesn’t have to be a lyric or a line, that could be like a music thing, it could be a little sprinkle of joy in a song that is really sad.”

On Friday, Styles dropped the emotional music video for his song, “Falling.” And during his sit-down with Rad on Saturday night, the host noted that she had a personal connection to the song lyrics.

“I think the music obviously means so much to me. It’s kind of why I tend not to explain songs too much because I think it’s important for it to, I guess to allow it to mean whatever it means to different people,” Styles shared. “And I know there’s songs that I’ve loved in my life where I find out it’s about something else and I’m almost like, ‘Oh, I wish I didn’t know that, because it used to mean so much to me.'”

“And it’s amazing if people can relate to your music. I’m just a fan of music. I don’t think I operate on any kind of higher level of listening than anybody else,” Styles continued. “I just love music and I make what excites me and I think if somebody else can relate to it and take something from it, then that’s kind of the biggest compliment they can give me.”

When asked about his process of making an album, the One Direction star said it just starts off with him and his friends writing songs that they want to listen to and they want to dance around to.

“I think at the start of this album process I had like a little bit of expectation of what I thought people wanted me to do, and I kind of tried to tick certain boxes,” Styles shared. “And I’ve just found, I can obviously only speak from personal experience, and I’ve just found that every time I try and tick boxes, I make my least favorite music.”

“So, I think just kind of accepting that you have to make the kind of album that you want to make right now in the moment and not be like, ‘OK, let me make like a big commercial album and then in 10 years I can make the album I really wanna make.’ It’d never make me happy, I don’t think it’d make anyone who listens to it happy,” Styles went on to say. “And I just don’t think that’s who I really wanna be. That was like a big turning point, is just realizing just making what you wanna make.”

Styles also shared that he’s been putting an emphasis on doing things that make him happy, adding that it’s been a part of “getting a little bit older.”

“I’m very old now!” Styles joked with the crowd. “I think you just reevaluate things. And I think that happens at like several different points in your life. I don’t think it will be the last time that I reevaluate what’s important to me. But I think you have moments where you go…I think it happens to everyone in different times of your life where you think you want something, and you get it and you go, ‘Oh, that didn’t make me as happy as I thought it was going to make me.'”

Styles added, “And then, you kind of look for different things and I guess I just put a lot more emphasis on trying to find the balance and trying to do what makes me happy rather than trying to work out what I’m supposed to be doing. So that’s been great.”

You can tune into a 30-minute broadcast of Styles’ event on iHeartMedia’s CHR and Hot AC radio stations across the country and Hit Nation on Sunday, March 1 at 7 p.m. local time.

Harry Styles’ new video sees him drowning as he sings of broken relationship

Harry Styles has released the eagerly anticpated new video for single Falling – and it's a highly emotional affair.

The song is the fourth single from the 25-year-old former One Direction singer's second solo album Fine Line, and features the heartthrob in one of his most vulnerable music videos to date.

In the opening scene of the stunningly-shot visual fans see Harry sitting on the floor alone in an abandoned old house soaking wet and exhausted as if he's just been through something major.

Next the singer is sitting at a piano as water starts filtering out of the piano and Harry sings his heart out as he builds up to the impassioned chorus.

Lyrics such as: "Forget what I said, it's not what I meant, and I can't take it back, I can't unpack the baggage you left" are even more poignant against the effective visual backdrop.

The camera pans and then zooms in to capture his chunky costume jewellery.

Known for his risqué fashion choices, the Worcestershire-born star sports a pale see-through blouse with massive frills and a long train, as the water continues to pour out until the whole room is full and Harry is completely under water, still singing his heart out and playing the piano.

He eventually floats away from the piano as all the furniture rises to the top.

As the vid closes it looks like he has drowned, as his eyes are closed and his body is still but then he opens his eyes and is once again alert as the video ends.

Ahead of the album release, Harry suggested that the muse behind the lyrics for Falling was his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe.

The Sun Online reported on the lyrics of the song which read: "I'm in my bed and you're not here. And there's no one to blame but the drink and my wandering hands".

  • Harry Styles' bold yellow BRIT Awards suit was previously worn by Lady Gaga

On another track called Cherry, he also appeared to refer to Camille's new partner, singing: "Don't you call him 'baby', we're not talking lately. Don't you call him what you used to call me".

Adding: "Does he take you walking round his parents' gallery?"

Camille's new boyfriend is art collector Theo Niarchos, whose father Philip owns a huge art collection.

Fans were quick to try and figure out the meaning of the emotionally-charged video and took to the Youtube comments section to pen their theories.

"i think the beginning is actually the end. he's sitting on the floor, still dealing with what just happened – but he made it through. he survived the terrible feelings he felt" speculated one.

"the more he plays the more water gushes out from the piano, meaning the more he lets himself sit in his grief the more harm he causes himself" wrote another.

Other were full of praise the lyrics to the song and his fashion sense.

"I can't imagine how he wrote the lyrics. So raw. He's been through something." wrote a viewer.

While another gushed: "Harry styles breaking all sorts of masculinity stereotypes in fashion In crying In being vulnerable In who he is as a person is everything I’m living for. "

Harry Styles accidentally causes super fan to collapse with VIP tickets gift

Harry Styles drove his fans wild with a VIP surprise.

In manic scenes from New York City, superfan Mary was gifted a set of VIP tickets for Harry's upcoming tour after he noticed her crying in the crowds.

The Today Show's Carson Daly spoke to Mary and presented her with the envy-inducing tickets. He said: "Mary, we noticed during soundcheck that you were crying."

"Yeah!" Mary screamed, "Hi Harry!"

The camera cut to Harry onstage where he could be seen looking dapper as ever in a pink blazer and polka dot tie.

The former One Direction singer waved to the crowds and prompted renewed screams from Mary.

"Harry noticed that you were crying," Carson continued. "He's going on tour this summer, and he'd like to give you VIP tickets."

Mary fell to the ground, someone telling her to not hurt herself, before she rose again with her jaw on the floor.

"Are you kidding me?!" she managed through tears.

"No, I'm not kidding you," Carson replied calmly.

"I love you!" she yelled at the stage.

A bashful Harry simply said: "No problem."

Carson laughed: "It's too bad you don't have any enthusiastic fans here today."

"I mean, it is raining," Harry said.

The camera cut back to Mary, where Carson reminded the super fan to breathe.

He said: "Breathe, breathe. We don't want you to pass out. Enjoy the show. Breathe."

The TV star gave her a hug as she struggled to get the words out.

During his time on stage, Harry also spoke out about a Valentine's Day mugging during which he was unharmed but forced to hand over cash to a knife-wielding thug.

"I'm okay, thanks, thank you for asking," he told Carson.

It didn't seem like it dampened his spirits too much as he seemed on good form at the BRITs.

The singer gave a belter of a performance and looked completely relaxed during an interview with host Jack Whitehall.
