Woman transforms her bleak stairs into a chic hallway for £23 using vinyl stickers and paint

A WOMAN transformed her house by simply updating her staircase, making her home look stylish and modern as soon as you walk through the font door.

Previously she was greeted by an outdated, wooden staircase and banister, which had seen better days.

She decided it was finally time to transform it, so rolled up her sleeves and got stuck into some DIY.

After removing the carpet grippers she scoured the corners of her house for some old paint, which she used to freshen up the steps – and the banister.

She went for a bright, white shade to make the entrance way look bigger, opting for a soft grey colour on the steps.

And she finished off the look with stylish tile stickers from Amazon, which cost just £16.99 and come with free delivery.

Sharing her budget transformation to Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, she said: “My stairs transformation.

“All done on a budget of £23 using old paint and vinyl transfers!

“I absolutely LOVE THEM!”

Her pack had 13 stickers, which might be unlucky for some but it was perfect for her, as she said: “I have 12 steps and needed that spare sticker as made a mistake with one!

“Thank goodness only 1 mistake.”

Hundreds of people have liked her post, claiming her staircase looks miles better.

Here’s how Emma Stone gets her iconic red hair

Emma Stone is one of the most successful actors of the last decade, and while her personality shines through every interview and red carpet appearance, so too does her iconic red hair. And lucky for us, her long-time hair colorist Tracy Cunningham revealed the secret to getting the Oscar-award-winner’s luscious red locks to Refinery29.

Firstly, it’s important to note that one of the reasons Stone’s red always looks so good is that she has the right skin tone for it. “I always tell people that one of the biggest reasons why Emma’s hair looks so incredible red is because she looks like a redhead,” Cunningham told Refinery29. “Despite the fact that her natural colour is blonde, the red suits her so well. It’s a unique case, because almost everyone in Emma’s family has red hair except her. Her mom is a beautiful natural redhead, and it’s actually on both sides of her family.”

Emma Stone's colorist Tracy Cunningham uses hair gloss instead of dye

But what’s the secret to her color? Redken Shade EQ gloss. Yes, because of Stone’s light natural hair color, Cunningham reaches for gloss instead of hair dye. “That color gloss is amazing because it feels like a conditioner, but it actually stains the hair,” Cunningham revealed to Refinery29. “It’s not a real color dye, but because it’s acid-based, it lays so nicely on the hair, giving it that shine,” she continued.

As colorist Lucille Javier of New York’s Sally Hershberger Salon explained to ELLE, using gloss instead of hair dye is quite common. “If you don’t have much grey, there are ways to blend in your color,” Javier explained. “Blondes can definitely get away with glossing your hair different tones, even if it’s just your ends. Also, if you hair is light enough, you can just deposit tone on the hair.” We know what we’re asking for next time we’re in the salon!

Paulina Gretzky and her doubles are taking over TikTok

What’s better than one Paulina Gretzky? How about four more.

On Wednesday, Dustin Johnson’s longtime love posted a video of herself dancing to Ariana Grande’s “Step on Up,” using a filter that created mirror images of herself on TikTok.

“Step on up to this crazy like,” 31-year-old Gretzky captioned the clip as she danced in a white crop-top and denim cutoffs.

Gretzky has starred in several TikTok videos during the coronavirus lockdown. Last month, she participated in Drake’s “Toosie Slide” challenge with Johnson’s younger brother and caddie, Austin.

In March, Gretzky “social distanced” with her future sister-in-law Samantha, as they danced in bikinis to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage.”

Samantha married Austin in the fall of 2018.

Horrified bride discovers her MUM’S wearing a white wedding dress on her big day… and documents it all on TikTok

EVEN when it's not our special day, we have a feeling most wedding guests spend as much time agonising over their outfits as the bride does.

But while we desperately try to strike the right balance between formal and not too dressy, there's just one cardinal rule you have to keep in mind: whatever you do, DON'T wear white.

Unfortunately for one bride, the only person who didn't get this all-important memo was her own mum. Yes, REALLY.

Documenting the saga on TikTok, newlywed Jane Lu only saw the dress her mother was wearing on the morning of her wedding.

While Jane opted for a slinky white gown for her special day, her mum went full-on bridal with her full-length lace frock.

As she was getting ready for the big day, Jane – who founded Australian clothing brand ShowPo -took a sneak peek of her mum's dress which was hidden away in a dry cleaning bag.

Jane said: "Just went to look at my mum's dress […] it's more bridal than mine!"

Unsure whether to laugh or cry, Jane then jumped between clips of her dress compared with her mother's gown.

She continued: "My dress was quite simple… hers looked way more bridal!"

The bride's hilarious TikTok has racked up over 170,000 views on the video-sharing platform – and users argued Jane looked like a guest at her own wedding. Awkward.

One replied: "No. I would have made my mum go and buy a different dress that second."

Another joked: "And that's when you dye your mum's dress a different colour…"

"I would have poured wine all over it," a third added. "You're a good daughter."

"When you're a guest at your own wedding," another wrote.

For more wedding horror stories, this fuming wedding photographer changed her mother-in-law’s dress in all pictures after she ‘defied the bride’ by wearing WHITE.

And this furious girlfriend was slammed for a ‘tacky’ sign moaning she’s gone 3,058 days without a proposal.

Plus this is the awkward moment groomsman a split his trousers trying to pull off challenging wedding dance move.

Mum furious after her son’s new girlfriend dyes her hair red in her bathroom & leaves it looking like a ‘murder scene’

A MUM is fuming after her son’s new girlfriend decided to dye her hair red in the family bathroom, and left a huge mess behind.

As the mum has her own en suite, she didn’t notice the horrific stains for two days, with people likening the bathroom to a murder scene.

She shared a snap of the tap and sink covered in thick red dye – which resembles blood –  to Facebook group Home Cleaning Tips And Tricks.

She fumed: “So yes I'm a clean freak my son's new girlfriend colored her hair and left this on the sink for 2 days before I noticed.”

And she confirmed she gave her a piece of her mind, saying: “Sorry but I let her know how I felt about it.

“I am going to make her clean it and it better come out.”

Explaining why it took her so long to spot, she added: “I have my own bathroom I rarely go in the other one.”

Hundreds of people have commented on snap, outraged on behalf of the mum.

Numerous people suggested she be banned from the house, while others asked why her son didn’t clean it up.

Commenting on the state of the bathroom, one person said: “Looks a bit murdery.”

I am going to make her clean it and it better come out

While someone else thought: “That shade must be called ‘Murder Red’."

Agreeing, someone else commented: “Oh my gosh I actually thought this was blood…

“Why on Earth would she not clean this up!!! Hope u get it cleaned.”

This person raged: “That's disgusting and so disrespectful! I'm not a clean freak but would never leave that in my house let alone someone else's.

“I would literally not allow her to do any sort of beauty treatments in my house if that's what she's like.”

Another added: “Oh hell no!!! Obviously that girl has no respect whatsoever for you otherwise she would have been trying like crazy to clean it up. I’d think again about having her in your house.”

While this person simply said: “Wow, I'd have given her the cleaning stuff and told her to get on with it!”

Meanwhile this mum was horrified after dyeing her hair blonde – only for it to turn out ginger instead.

Plus people are showing off the results of the #nohairwashchallenge after stopping using shampoo but insist it’s not greasy.

And this mum was horrified after her daughter cut a huge chunk out of her hair while she was trimming tot’s fringe.

How Adele picked her new look from best pals, ALISON BOSHOFF reveals

Slim like you: As Adele shows off her dramatic weight loss, ALISON BOSHOFF reveals how the singer has cherry-picked her look from best pals

  • Adele posed for photos in which her astonishing 10st weight loss was evident
  • Her new appearance has left her looking like her new set of Hollywood friends
  • So what is behind her stunning makeover? ALISON BOSHOFF reports

She rose to worldwide fame as a very distinctive diva — that voice, of course, but also those curves.

Late fashionista Karl Lagerfeld infamously said in 2012 when she graced the cover of Vogue, that she was ‘a little too fat’.

Stung, Adele went on the first of many diets, and worked out with a personal trainer even though she admitted she ‘hated’ it.

By the time she released her third album — 25 — she promised she was never going to change. She told an interviewer in 2015: ‘I’m going to look like this for ever. Deal with it.’

Adele, who turned 32 this week, posed for a series of stunning photos at her LA home in which her astonishing 10 st weight loss was evident for all to see

But where is that girl now? Adele, 32 this week, posed for a series of stunning photos at her LA home in which her astonishing 10 st weight loss was evident for all to see.

The new Adele — tiny waist, endless legs — looks like a completely different person.

Her hair, once a vintage-styled long bob in a damp shade of ginger, is now glowing, blonde and grown out into a Californian beach do. She also has a suntan and perfect teeth.

Perhaps even more striking is how her new appearance has left her looking the spitting image of her new set of Hollywood friends.

As these extraordinary pictures show, from Jennifer Lawrence’s hair to Emily Blunt’s eyebrows, Adele has become a dead ringer for the bombshells in her A-list set.

So what is behind her stunning makeover, and who’s in the glam squad behind her transformation? ALISON BOSHOFF reports…

She’s glowing for a look like tanned Mrs Corden

Adele has been close to actor and chat show host James Corden since before she was famous.

Now relocated to LA like the singer, Corden and his wife Julia are a part of her inner circle.

Julia, a former charity executive, is the veteran of dozens of red carpet events with James and has developed a distinctly Californian glow — fake tan being every blonde’s best friend.

Adele has been close to actor and chat show host James Corden since before she was famous. Now both have relocated to LA, Corden and his wife Julia (right) are part of her inner circle

Adele’s deep bronze may be the work of celebrity favourite Kristyn Pradas who offers full-body contouring.

Ms Pradas says: ‘This doesn’t mean every muscle looks chiselled. It’s just about accentuating someone’s favourite features and camouflaging their less favourite.’

Another reason for Adele’s glow may be intravenous vitamin boosts.

She has been named as a client of the Drip Doctors in LA. Their Limitless drip contains antioxidants and vitamins C and B. Plus, they do house calls for the privacy-conscious.

Adele of a likeness

Their physical similarities are such that fans this week were calling for Sarah Paulson to play Adele if a biopic of her life were made.

The pair met at the birthday party of TV host Ellen DeGeneres, on whose show the U.S. actress said she’d asked to touch Adele’s voicebox to feel ‘where the magic comes from’.

‘She looked at me as if I was crazy, but let me,’ Paulson said.

Sarah Paulson (pictured) and Adele have been told they look so alike that people were calling on the actress to play the singer if a biopic of her life was ever made

Minding the gap with Ayda Field

Why the pigeon-toed pose?

Well, Adele may have realised she has finally achieved a ‘thigh gap’ — just like her very good friend and exercise buddy Ayda Field.

Actress and presenter Ayda, who is married to Robbie Williams, was Adele’s first best friend in LA when the singer went there for a couple of months with baby son Angelo in 2012.

They bonded over a shared sense of humour.

Trainer Camila Goodis said: ‘I trained Ayda and they are good friends, so I did Adele when she was in Robbie’s house. I don’t believe she liked exercise much but she has changed her lifestyle and I believe that 90 per cent [of the weight loss] was dieting.’

Actress and presenter Ayda, who is married to Robbie Williams, was Adele’s first best friend in LA when the singer went there for a couple of months with baby son Angelo in 2012

P.S. What happened to her new album?

Where is the album which was supposed to be ready for release last September?

Insiders say that it was ‘finished’ but that Adele, ever the perfectionist, then deemed it not yet right after all. Now she is telling friends to expect it this September.

The songs which she had laid down reflected her split from husband Simon Konecki, but are said to be surprisingly upbeat.

In keeping, one would imagine, with her new-found happiness.

An LBD like buddy Nicole

One is the daughter of music legend Lionel Richie and was raised in splendour, the other was raised in grotty flats by a single mum. But Nicole Richie and Adele are very close.

Richie, 37, who has two children, went on a road trip to Vegas last year with Adele to celebrate the latter’s 31st.

Adele’s dress in this week’s photo looks similar to her friend Nicole Riche’s £1,400 YSL number (pictured) although some believe it is by new label Elzinga

She’s a regular at fashion shows and went to the YSL one in Paris earlier this year, where she wore a black mini-dress.

Adele’s dress in this week’s photo looks similar to a £1,400 YSL number, although some believe it is by new label Elzinga.

Certainly, the flirty little party dress is a world away from the floor-length gowns she used to wear.

She has brows done, to be Blunt

Adele is one of the celebrity clients of Beverly Hills ‘brow whisperer’ Kristie Streicher, whose clients include actresses Emily Blunt, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elisabeth Moss.

Kristie’s signature looks involve brow feathering and microfeathering, which is a subtle take on microblading, the semi-permanent eyebrow inking technique.

Microfeathering has to be done at least five times. ‘I make them go through a year-long grow-out process to see the natural brow,’ says Streicher. ‘Eyebrow hairs are like people — they can be trained to do whatever you want them to do.’

Adele is one of the celebrity clients of Beverly Hills ‘brow whisperer’ Kristie Streicher, whose clients include actresses Emily Blunt, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elisabeth Moss

And it’s not just her look that’s changed

Ten stone less and counting

Adele’s weight loss astonished everyone in late 2019, when she was seen wearing a collar-bone-revealing evening gown at rapper Drake’s birthday bash. However she’s now dramatically thinner. Some suggest she’s lost 10 st.

Adele’s weight loss first astonished in 2019, when she wore a collar-bone-revealing evening gown at Drake’s birthday party

How? Well, various diets, like the Sirtfood, have been suggested, and she is said to be consuming only 1,000 calories a day.

Some online commentators believe she has had weight-loss surgery, such as a gastric band or bypass.

Adele, though, appeared to suggest that it’s all down to exercise when she wrote, ‘I used to cry, now I sweat’ underneath a picture of herself looking thin.

Pete Geracimo, her former trainer, said on Instagram this week: ‘It’s disheartening to read negative commentary and fat-phobic accusations questioning the genuineness of her amazing weight loss.

‘When Adele and I started our journey together, it was never about getting super-skinny. It was about getting her healthy. She warmed to training and made better food choices. As a result, she lost considerable weight.

‘My hope is that people appreciate the hard work Adele has done to improve herself for the benefit to her and her family. She did not lose the weight to make others feel bad about themselves. She has not changed from the Adele we grew up with. There is just a little less of her to go around.’

Twinning hair with Hollywood wedding chum Jennifer Lawrence

Adele’s go-to for her Hello song hair was Lucy Holbrook at Daniel Galvin in London, and it was also often styled for red carpet events by her make-up artist Michael Ashton.

Now though, it looks as if she may be flirting with a less ‘done’ look, with highlights and waves.

Adele recently attended Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding, which remained a secret to most, and the pair have also been seen bar-hopping together in New York as they grow close

Stylist Jenny Cho is famous for doing informal looks on Adele’s good friend, actress Jennifer Lawrence, Adele attended J-Law’s recent hush-hush wedding. Cho has said of her ‘light-handed’ touch: ‘I’ll diffuse her natural texture and only blowdry certain areas to get a look that’s not completely stiff or “done”.’

But it could be that Adele is receiving attention from Ashley Streicher, who is famous for her ‘natural aesthetic’.

An ex as a neighbour

A month after her split from Simon was announced, Adele paid £8.5 million for a second home in LA just feet from the family home, allowing the separated couple to share custody of their seven-year-old son with ease. A source said: ‘They are raising Angelo with love, warmth and real respect for each other.’

Adele is worth about £150 million, and under Californian law Simon was entitled to half that. The divorce has now been settled.

Adele paid £8.5 million for a second home in LA a month, allowing the separated couple to share custody of their seven-year-old son

New circle of party-hard pals

Ex-husband Simon, a former banker who runs a water charity, is 15 years Adele’s senior, and when they split in March last year she complained that she was becoming old before her time.

Now she is embracing her friendships with a crowd of younger, party-hard celebrities, such as Jennifer Lawrence, whom she went bar-hopping with in New York.

Other pals include music producer Mark Ronson and rapper Drake.

Adele wrote on Instagram last year: ‘For the first time in a decade, I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.’ She is pictured with singer Geri Haliwell

A source said: ‘In the early days with Simon she was trying to handle being so famous by locking herself away.

‘But she doesn’t want to be so reclusive any more; she wants to socialise with her fun young friends.’

Adele wrote on Instagram last year: ‘For the first time in a decade, I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.

‘Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity.

‘Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realised that that is more than enough.’

Woman covers her boyfriend's entire bedroom in tinfoil

Woman who was sick of her prankster boyfriend’s practical jokes covers his entire bedroom in tinfoil after he went out without her

  • Madeline Mai- Davies, 18, says she spent three hours covering boyfriend’s room
  • She put tinfoil on every item, including his office chair, pillows and duvet
  • Posted it to TikTok where it racked up more than 25,000 views
  • However some questioned if it was genuine, asking why he’d been out all day

A prankster who was tired of falling for her boyfriend’s practical jokes decided to trick him while he was out of the house by covering his bedroom in tinfoil.

Madeline Mai- Davies, 18, claims she spent a whole morning covering his entire bedroom in tinfoil, floor to ceiling after he went out for the day and didn’t invite her.

The waitress, from Stevenage, Hertforshire, spent three hours using 10 pack of big tin foil, worth £15, to cover every single item in her boyfriend’s room, the bed, curtains, chair, photo frames and cushions and filmed his reaction for her TikTok page.

But some have questioned the video’s authenticity, asking why her boyfriend Nick Muray was out all day despite the lockdown.

Madeline said: ‘I had seen a lot of videos and I wanted to do something wacky and fun and because of the lockdown I had lots of free time in my hands.

‘I covered everything, from lampshades to pictures, even the plug on the wall- which broke during the process.

‘I just thought it’d be really funny to get his reaction on camera.

The teenager lost her job due to coronavirus and has since built up a huge TikTok following where her and her boyfriend Nick Murray play tricks on each other.

Madeline said: ‘I had seen a lot of videos and I wanted to do something wacky and fun and because of the lockdown I had lots of free time in my hands. It’s not clear why Nick was out of the house for ‘all day’ during lockdown.

‘He was in shock, he kept saying “What have you done to my room?”

‘It took me ages to cover everything but when we took it down, it only took three minutes.

While many found the prank hilarious, others have questioned its authenticity, asking why the couple – who refer to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend despite being engaged – don’t share a room with one another.

Everything but the windows! Madeline went all out covering her boyfriend’s room, leaving just the windows spare

The couple regularly play pranks on each other and Nick recently filled Madeline’s bathroom with 3,000 red cups. But fans also questioned that video, as previous footage has shown they share a bathroom. They are pictured on holiday

‘Revenge is sweet haha’ said one follower.

‘Ahahha this is funny I’m a fan of you’ said another.

‘Why don’t you sleep in the same room?’ questioned a third.

‘Why is he out…’ said another

‘Why’s he out in lockdown??’ wrote one fan.

Madeline spent £15 on tin foil for the prank which she shared with her 300,000 TikTok followers, Nick later reposted it to his 700,000 followers

‘Your boyfriend was out all day even though you’re only supposed to leave the house if it’s absolutely necessary?’ asked another.

He started vomiting, his temperature was really high, and his breathing was really bad.

Parents are currently on red-alert for the illness after Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned the government was “worried” about the disease, thought to be linked to covid-19.

Mr Hancock made a statement after the Paediatric Intensive Care Society sent an alert to GPs warning of a spike in cases across the country.

Doctors have described the condition as being similar to Kawasaki disease where symptoms include a high temperature with a rash, swollen glands in the neck, cracked lips, and red fingers, toes and eyes.

George’s symptoms began in mid-March and after an episode of “violent vomiting”, lethargy and redness around his eyes.

He was diagnosed on March 17 as having conjunctivitis by his GP and was given penicillin.

But Mrs Cook explained that her son’s symptoms became even more worrying just two days later.

Mrs Cook explained: “He started vomiting, his temperature was really high, and his breathing was really bad.

“His rib cage was going in and out. He was asleep on me but he started convulsing and this really panicked me.

George was rushed in to hospital where medical staff stabilised his temperature before sending him home where he eventually recovered.

George's battle

  • March 17 – ‘violent vomiting’, lethargy and redness around the eyes. Diagnosed with conjunctivitis.
  • March 19 – vomiting, high temperature, trouble breathing.
  • March 20 – red patches on the back of his legs and feet and hand and arms. Diagnosed with cellulitis.
  • March 26 –  cough, rash and trouble breathing. Diagnosed with scarlet fever.

SIGNS TO WATCH OUT FOR

NHS doctors have been told to watch out for signs of an 'inflammatory syndrome' in kids, after a rise in cases of the new condition.

Health chiefs said in an alert to GPs the signs include:

  • stomach pain
  • gastrointestinal symptoms – like vomiting and diarrhoea

The mysterious condition has been compared to toxic shock syndrome and Kawasaki disease.

The signs of TSS are:

  • high temperature
  • flu-like symptoms, like headache, feeling cold, aches, sore throat and cough
  • feeling and being sick
  • diarrhoea
  • widespread burn-like rash
  • lips, tongue, and whites of the eyes turning bright red
  • dizziness or fainting
  • difficulty breathing
  • confusion

Signs of Kawaski disease include:

  • a rash
  • swollen glands in the neck
  • dry, cracked lips
  • red fingers or toes
  • red eyes

On Friday, March 20, Mrs Cook noticed red patches on her son’s skin.

She said: “We were sat having tea, he had a jumper on and I took it off and he had these red patches on him just like the ones that we are now being told are symptoms but obviously at the time that wasn’t linked to anything like that.

“All we knew as the symptoms of Covid-19 were the cough and the temperature.

“So he had these red patches on the back of his legs and feet and hand and arms.

“My husband took him straight to the doctor’s and came back with more antibiotics and said the doctor said he had cellulitis.

“We thought ‘gosh he’s just got over conjunctivitis and now this.”

It’s all making sense now. I just don’t know where it’s come from but it was five weeks of absolute heartache – it was just awful.

By March 26, George had almost finished his course of antibiotics but was still ill.

Mrs Cook said: “He had developed a cough, the redness had turned into a rash and his breathing was bad.”

After another check-up George was diagnosed with scarlet fever.

Although George has not been tested for Covid-19, Mrs Cook remains convinced that her son has suffered with the suspected coronavirus-related illness.

She said “It’s all making sense now. I just don’t know where it’s come from but it was five weeks of absolute heartache – it was just awful.

“My little girl even said to me ‘do you think we’re going to lose him mum?' She said to me ‘do you think something bad is going to happen to him?’

“It was awful.

“He’s just such a happy little boy but he just wasn’t getting better and I knew it myself – mum’s instinct. I just knew that there was something up.”

Mr Hancock has warned that some children in the UK have died from the condition.

However, England's top doctor, Prof Chris Whitty said the condition is "very rare".

The health secretary told LBC: "We put out at the weekend a call across the NHS because some cases of this had been identified and then this call essentially says to doctors in other parts of the country 'have you seen this condition?' and then they collate the information and find out what's going on.

"We have lost some children," he said, adding: "There are some children who have died who didn't have underlying health conditions."

He added: “Mr Hancock explained: "It's a fresh, new disease that we think may be caused by coronavirus and the Covid-19 virus.

"We're not 100 per cent sure because some of the people who got it hadn't tested positive.

"We're doing a lot of research now but it is something we're worried about. What I would also stress is that it is rare.

"Although it is very significant for those children who do get it the number of cases is small."
