North Korea admits that Kim Jong Un can't bend space and time

North Korea admits that Kim Jong Un can’t bend space and time after decades of myth making

  • The move is the latest sign the nation is not mythologising its leaders anymore
  • Instead, Kim Jong Un wants to focus on a humanising approach to his image
  • North Korea’s leader has made significantly fewer public appearance this year
  • This is likely due to Covid-19, analysts say, following speculation the leader had died in April during heart surgery, which has since been refuted by South Korea

The North Korean state newspaper has admitted that the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, cannot bend space and time after years of mythologising him.

The admission from the Rodong Sinmun newspaper is the latest sign that the country is moving away from propagandizing myths about its leaders, and is instead taking an approach that focuses on humanising the dictator, according to analysts.

‘In realistic terms, a person cannot suddenly disappear and reappear by folding space,’ the newspaper said this week, denying that members of the Kim family are capable of ‘chukjibeop’ – a hypothetical method of folding space and quickly travelling great distances.

In Korean, the term is translated as ‘distance-shrinking magic’, and is akin to supernatural speed or teleportation.

Speaking on Thursday, an official from South Korea’s unification ministry said that the secretive regime’s trend of demystifying its leaders – Kim Jong Un and his father and former leader Kim Jong-il – is ‘noteworthy’, according to the Yonhap News Agency.

‘It appears to stress patriotism and love for the people rather than mystification of the leaders. We will further analyze its implications,’ the official said to the agency.

Since the failure to arrive at an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump at their second summit in Hanoi last year, Kim Jong Un has taken efforts to show his more ‘human’ side, and has urged people not to mythologise him.

Pictured: Kim Jong Un supposedly makes his first public appearance after 20 days of absence that sparked rumours about his health, and suggestions that he had died as a result of a botched heart surgery

Speaking in March last year after the breakdown in negotiations, state media quoted Kim saying: ‘Mystifying a leader’s revolutionary activity and appearance would result in covering the truth.’

‘Absolute loyalty would spring up when (they) are mesmerized by the leader humanly and comradely,’ he added.

Earlier this month, Kim Jong Un appeared to make his first public appearance after 20 days of absence, which sparked rumours about his health.

Some reports in April said that he had undergone heart surgery, with one Japanese news outlet saying that the surgery had gone wrong and he was in a vegetative state. Other outlets went as far to say that he had died.

Since then, South Korean intelligence officials have said there was no sign Kim Jong Un underwent a heart operation, following rumours that he was ‘gravely ill’ or even dead following surgery.

However, Kim Jong Un has made an unusually small number of public appearances in the past two months, once again going three weeks without state media reporting his attendance at a public event, according to analysts, but could be due to the coronavirus.

Speaking to a parliamentary committee on May 6, the head of South Korea’s intelligence agency, Suh Hoon said there was nothing to indicate the rumours about Kim’s ill-health were true.

‘The NIS assesses that at least he did not get any heart-related procedure or surgery,’ committee member Kim Byung-kee told reporters. ‘He was normally performing his duties when he was out of the public eye.’

‘At least there’s no heart-related health problem.’

Since the failure to arrive at an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump at their second summit in Hanoi last year (pictured, June 30, 2019), Kim Jong Un has taken efforts to show his more ‘human’ side

But the lawmaker said Kim Jong Un only made 17 public appearances so far this year, compared with an average of 50 from previous years, which the NIS ascribed to a possible coronavirus outbreak in North Korea.

‘Kim Jong Un had focused on consolidating internal affairs such as military forces and party-state meetings, and coronavirus concerns have further limited his public activity,’ Kim Byung-kee said.

‘Though North Korea maintains it has zero cases, it cannot be ruled out that there is an outbreak there given they had active people-to-people exchanges with China before closing the border in late January.’

Kim’s low profile comes as North Korea imposes anti-coronavirus measures, although the country says it has no confirmed cases, and follows intense speculation about his health last month after he missed a key anniversary.

Kim has appeared publicly four times in April and so far in May, compared to 27 times in the same period last year.

Since coming to power in 2011, the previous fewest public appearances Kim has made during those months was 21 in 2017, according to a tally by Chad O’Carroll, CEO of Korea Risk Group, a Seoul-based organisation that tracks North Korea.

‘This is not business as normal,’ he said in a post on Twitter this week.

A photo released by the official North Korean Central News Agency shows Kim Jong Un (picturedd centre, May 1) cutting a ribon at a completion ceremony of a factory, marking his supposed first public appearance in 20 days

As a leader with near-absolute power over North Korea’s 25.5 million people, and access to a growing arsenal of nuclear weapons, Kim’s health and whereabouts are often scrutinized by the international community for any signs of instability.

Information in North Korea is tightly controlled, however, and independently confirmed details on Kim are almost non-existent.

South Korean officials have said they believe Kim’s limited public appearances may be precautions in the face of coronavirus concerns. North Korea has cancelled, postponed, or toned down many major public gatherings because the new coronavirus.

When asked about Kim’s absences, South Korea’s Unification Ministry said on Friday it is monitoring the situation, but noted Kim is often out of the public eye.

Citing an unnamed South Korean government official, JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported Kim may be carrying out his duties from a favoured villa in Wonsan, on the coast.

But the North Korean leader may also simply be focused on some of the domestic economic and political goals he outlined before the coronavirus crisis struck, said Rachel Minyoung Lee, a former North Korea open source intelligence analyst in the U.S. government.

‘COVID does remain a major concern for the country, but state media coverage of COVID has declined over the past month or so, so I don’t seen regime’s increased concern,’ she said.

Friday marks three weeks since state media last showed images of Kim attending a public event.

North Korean state media reported Kim attended the opening ceremony of a fertilizer plant on May 1. That appearance marked a reemergence for Kim, whose unprecedented absence from a major holiday on April 15 sparked weeks of international speculation over his health and whereabouts.

Since then, state media has carried a steady stream of stories on Kim sending or receiving letters and diplomatic correspondence, but have not shown him attending public events.

North Korean media have for years propagandized myths about the Kim family, perpetuating beliefs that they are capable of superhuman feats. Pictured: Residents of Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, watch Kim Jong Un’s first supposed public appearance on large screens, May 1

Kim Jong Un has made an unusually low number of public appearances this year. Experts believe this is due to Covid-19, although North Korea claims to have seen zero cases of the virus despite its shared border with China, where the virus is believed to have originated from

Meanwhile, North Korea has halted talks with the United States until the results of the US presidential election in November are known, Russia’s ambassador to Pyongyang told news agencies Wednesday.

President Donald Trump has met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un three times at historic summits and voiced admiration for him, although hopes of striking a comprehensive agreement have faded.

‘As for dialogue with Washington, which they deem to be pointless for now, it seems to have been postponed at least until after the US presidential election,’ Ambassdaor Alexander Matsegora told Interfax news agency in an interview.

‘They shall see what happens next,’ he said.

North Korea has fired off a series of rockets as it demands concessions from the Trump administration, which says that international sanctions should remain until the regime fully denuclearizes.

Matsegora said he expects dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang to eventually resume, adding Russia was unhappy with the suspension of talks that could increase tension in the border region.

‘Clearly, Moscow cannot be happy with the deep-freeze in the US-North Korean dialogue, which is fraught with an escalation of tensions in the region adjacent to our Far Eastern border,’ he said.

The ambassador also criticised US sanctions on North Korea which he said were hindering supplies of crucial medical equipment to Pyongyang.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in March called for sanctions relief during the coronavirus pandemic, telling G20 leaders it was a matter ‘of life and death’.

Matsegora said sanctions were blocking the supply of medications and medical equipment to North Korea and Washington was ‘hunting down anyone who has at least some trade with North Korea, even if completely harmless things are supplied.’

Kim Kardashian Fans Started Debating Her Parenting Skills and Things Got Heated

With the birth of baby Psalm last year, Kim Kardashian West officially has more children than any of her siblings. Kourtney Kardashian is a close second. The oldest Kardashian sibling has three kids, but Kim and her husband Kanye West were dead set on four.

Psalm joins their older children, North, Saint, and Chicago. They range in age from 6 to 2, and they frequently appear on Kim’s Instagram feed. But some fans aren’t sure if Kim is really as good a mom as she would like us to believe.

Kim Kardashian West and North Kardashian West’s video proves they are close

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Even though some fans doubt that Kim spends a lot of time with her kids, others came to her defense in a recent discussion on Reddit. Those fans who think Kim is a dedicated mom pointed out the recent video she posted that features her daughter North.

In the video, Kim is hiding from her kids in the guest bathroom to film a makeup tutorial. She can’t hide from North apparently, and when Kim tells fans she’s hiding because her kids won’t leave her alone, North pipes up and says “Hey! That’s mean!”

Kim’s critics say this is proof she doesn’t want to spend time with her children. Her defenders say that a daughter who doesn’t have a good relationship with her mother wouldn’t follow her around as North does. North wouldn’t have interrupted the video to admonish Kim if she wasn’t perfectly comfortable in her mother’s care.

While some people say that the Kardashian West children are being raised by nannies, it turns out that it couldn’t be further from the truth.

Do Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West use nannies?

Most days we don’t get out of our pajamas

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

Even though most wealthy families have help to take care of their children, Kim and Kanye are actually trying to move away from using nannies. Now that they’re quarantining in their California home, they have no nanny with them at all.

Kim’s critics say that this is probably the first time she’s actually had to parent her kids. They believe that Kim and Kanye are so reliant on nannies during normal times that they don’t really spend time with their children. However, most working parents are reliant on some kind of care for their children. That might mean daycare, babysitters, or grandparents. For many working parents, this is the longest they’ve been without help.

Many of Kim’s fans jumped in on Reddit to say exactly that. Wanting a break doesn’t make anyone less of a mom. Everyone is in this situation right now, not just Kim. Still, some fans weren’t convinced that Kim is actually as involved as she looks on Instagram.

Fans are split on Kim Kardashian West’s parenting skills

For all the fans who loved Kim’s video with North, there were still some who were rubbed the wrong way by the post. Some fans claim that this is Kim’s most relatable moment, but others say it’s just further proof that she doesn’t actually like to spend time with her kids.

Kim has nannies to take care of her kids under normal circumstances. Some fans think Kim probably never had all four children in her care before quarantine. She would have always had a nanny to help out with one or two, while she spent time with the others.

For those who defend her, there’s also the question of sexism. As one fan said, “Not everyone wants parent to be their only identity.” For working moms, that can be especially difficult to achieve. Society still expects women to be primary caretakers. People have theorized that Kim faces sexism before, considering she is a powerful businesswoman who is constantly criticized. Plus, fans are attacking Kim, but not her husband Kanye.

The untold truth of Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is a reality star turned modern Renaissance woman. Once regarded as a secondary celebrity — simply famous for being famous — the wife, mother of four, model, mogul, and fashion trend influencer has proven that you can rise to the top with hard work and perseverance. And while it might be hard for her critics to see past the terrible things Kardashian has reportedly done, it’s clear her business acumen has made her a success story.

With a huge (and lucrative) social media presence, a few wildly successful brands and companies, and reality shows under her designer belt, Kardashian is said to be worth a cool $370+ million, according to Forbes. Still, she is not content to rest on her laurels. In fact, Kardashian has even added law apprentice and social advocate to her resume (via Entertainment Tonight).

Indeed, Kardashian might have a reputation for being the ultimate influencer, born into an affluent family of fame seekers, but she has come into her own and shown the world what she is made really made of. There is so much more to this mega-famous celebrity than what meets the eye. Here’s a look at the untold truth of Kim Kardashian.

As a teen, Kim Kardashian attended a strict all-girls' Catholic school

Kim Kardashian might not be shy about showing off her best assets; but, growing up, the reality star got into trouble for wearing too-short skirts to school every day.

According to Vogue, Kardashian attended an all-girls’ Catholic high school in Los Angeles. She may have skirted some of the rules (pun intended), but one rule she absolutely had to follow was the school’s makeup-free policy. Still, despite the inconvenient no-primping precept, Kardashian really enjoyed her educational environment. “I just genuinely loved it. I had an amazing Catholic school experience. It’s very strict, very punctual, and I like that—it’s how I’ve lived my life,” she told the magazine.

What’s more, while her famous family might not openly publicize their more spiritual side, Kardashian said that they are, indeed, “very religious.” In fact, they begin their mornings with a Bible verse text-chain. “We are very Christian—and our work ethic and our discipline comes from so many years at Catholic school,” the star told Vogue.

Kim Kardashian celebrated her 14th birthday at Neverland Ranch

Kim Kardashian has a surprising connection to the late musician, Michael Jackson.

In the ’90s, most tweens and teens celebrated their birthdays at a rollerskating rink or in their own backyards. However, Kardashian wasn’t like most tweens and teens. Instead of a roller rink, the daughter of Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner marked her 14th birthday in true over-the-top Kardashian style at Michael Jackson’s famous Neverland Ranch. “That was the most magical place on earth,” Kardashian later revealed to People. She continued, setting the incredible scene and elaborating, “When you drove up, there were baby elephants and chimpanzees in overalls, and there was all the rides. It was everything you can possibly imagine.” Added Kardashian, “The memories I have from that place will last for the rest of my life.”

At the time, Kardashian was dating T.J. Jackson — one of Michael Jackson’s nephews, according to People. However, the singer — who had a tragic real life story — was not present for the party. Instead, Kardashian celebrated her big day with a few friends, telling People, “It was something I’ll never forget.”

Kim Kardashian got her start as a closet organizer to the stars

Before Kim Kardashian became a super celebrity in her own right, she worked for other famous people whose names you’ll definitely recognize. According to a video clip featuring an interview with Kardashian before she became perhaps the most famous reality TV star in modern history, she once worked as a professional closet organizer for stars like Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford, and Rob Lowe.

Apparently, Kardashian is still majorly obsessed with organization. In April 2019, the star told W Magazine that her retired clothes — including her former Met Gala gowns — are all in a temperature-regulated storage facility. “Each thing is in a garment bag with a photo of me at the event,” she explained to the magazine.

When it comes to her present wardrobe, there’s a method to Kardashian’s madness. “I want my closet to look not so full … So I have a process of editing,” the star revealed to W Magazine. She continued, explaining, “I have this app that has everything photographed and everything has a number. As we take things out, I log it out or log it back in.”

Kim Kardashian rarely drinks alcohol

Kim Kardashian looks unrecognizable in throwback photos today — and she also acts much differently than she did in the past. While she may have projected a certain wild-child appearance years ago, it seems the reality star is a far cry from the big-time party girl she was once. As a source close to Kardashian confirmed to People, while “she may have a glass of champagne on a holiday or for someone’s birthday,” it’s a very infrequent event.

In an interview with the Australian morning show Sunrise, Kardashian boasted about her rather tame existence, revealing, “I go to bed when the kids go to bed. She continued,  saying, “I don’t drink, I don’t stay out late at night.”

An early bedtime isn’t the only impressive part of Kardashian’s schedule. As the star revealed to Sunrise, she is incredibly disciplined and loyal to her daily routine“I know every day I wake up at a specific time and I have my schedule set in stone and I really don’t like to veer off of that, because it’s so planned,” Kardashian revealed on Sunrise. She continued, saying, “With four kids, you just have to be so organized.”

Kim Kardashian reads all her own contracts

Kim Kardashian surprised fans and critics alike when she announced in a May 2019 interview with Vogue that she planned to study law and take the bar exam.

In a February 2020 interview with Good Morning America, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star gave an update on her progress, explaining that she carves out time to study in the afternoon and evening hours despite an already jam-packed schedule. ” I just finished year one,” Kardashian revealed. She continued, saying, “I’m about to take the baby bar in a few months, which is a necessity in order to continue on for the next three years in California, so it feels good having finished year one. It’s very hard.”

Unsurprisingly, learning more about law has inspired Kardashian to have more of a hand in her businesses. “I read over every contract now. It’s what I’m studying, and it makes a lot of sense now to me,” the star revealed to Good Morning America. Added Kardashian, “Had I gone to school, you know, years ago when I should have, it wouldn’t have meant as much as it does to me [now].”

Kim Kardashian has a weakness for these foods

Kim Kardashian has an enviable figure, so it should come as no surprise that the star works hard to keep herself in shape and keeps track of what she eats in a day. As Kardashian revealed in a tweet, she maintains a “mostly plant-based” diet (via People). However, the star has made it clear that she’s not above the occasional cheat.

Kardashian has called out Cheetos and Doritos as two of her all-time favorite snack foods, as noted by People. And in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the reality star revealed that Justin’s peanut butter packs will usually do the trick when she’s in the mood for a sweet treat. However, Kardashian’s most decadent dessert splurge is definitely ice cream. “Haagen-Dazs is my biggest indulgence — their Dulce de Leche flavor is my favorite thing in life,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

Additionally, Kardashian and her husband, Kanye West, are not above a visit (or two) to a chain restaurant. On a 2019 trip to Dayton, Ohio, the Kardashian-West clan went to the Cheesecake Factory two nights in a row, according to People. Their dessert of choice? Fresh strawberry cheesecake. Who’s hungry?

This is how long it takes Kim Kardashian to get ready

Kim Kardashian has her beauty routine down to a science.

If you regularly watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you know the Kardashian sisters regularly get their hair and makeup professionally done. And while being pampered is certainly a luxury, it can be quite a time-consuming process. Fortunately, Kardashian is a beauty mogul who knows how to do her makeup and hair like a pro — and in a pinch!

As the reality star revealed to Harper’s Bazaar in 2015, her morning primping session usually takes an hour and a half. However, if she’s in a big rush or has an early appointment, Kardashian uses time-saving beauty hacks. “We do whatever we have time for,” the KKW Beauty founder revealed. She continued, saying, “It takes me about 15 minutes to do my own makeup, and if I have my hair done from the day before, I can get ready quickly on my own.” Added the star, “I don’t wash my hair a whole lot — [I only wash it] every three or four days. When I get it done and blow-dried, that lasts for a while.”

Kim Kardashian has been claiming that she can smell cavities for years

Kim Kardashian might have decided to study law; however, perhaps the star should have considered studying dentistry!

In a somewhat impressive and strangely disturbing tweet from 2009, Kardashian claimed she sniff out a cavity, writing, “I have a really odd talent. I can smell when someone has cavaties [sic]!” She continued, tweeting, “They don’t even have [to] be super close by me.” Years later, Kardashian mentioned her stranger superpower again during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. When asked about her “hidden talent” she boasted, “I can smell when someone has a cavity. It’s a very specific smell — not a bad-breath smell — but something that is really strong.”

Clearly, she has a thing for oral hygiene. Kardashian keeps her own pearly whites shiny and bright with the help of her trusty $220 Philips Sonicare DiamondClean electric toothbrush, according to People. And as Kardashian once shared on her website, she wears a hidden permanent retainer on her teeth (via Elle).

Kim Kardashian is passionate about prison reform

In 2018, Kim Kardashian launched a passion project — and it had nothing to do with hair, makeup, fashion.

Kardashian met with President Trump in May 2018 and successfully advocated for the release of Alice Johnson, a woman who had already spent 22 years of a life sentence in jail for a non-violent drug-related crime, as reported by the New York Post. Trump ultimately. commuted Johnson’s sentence, in part thanks to Kardashian and her team’s effort. Since then, Kardashian has connected with other unfairly sentenced first-time offenders and worked for reform on their behalf (via Rolling Stone). And her early success working towards social justice has further fueled her desire to do more on a broader level. “It’s time for REAL systemic change,” she wrote in a September 2018 tweet.

Kardashian also produced and starred in an Oxygen network documentary about prison reform that premiered in April 2020. Titled Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project, the documentary profiled several prisoners and brought even more light to a topic the star has become extremely vocal about.

Kim Kardashian has actually been married three times

Kim Kardashian is a happily married woman with four young kids. However, before she tied the knot and had babies with rapper Kanye West, the reality star made headlines for her other relationships — one of which was notably short-lived.

As most pop culture heads likely remember, the most famous of Kardashian’s failed marriages was her brief union with (and subsequent separation from) basketball player Kris Humphries. The couple got married on August 20, 2011, and Kardashian infamously filed for divorce just 72 days after their wedding (via People).

What fans may not realize is that Kardashian had actually been married before she and Humphries became the butt every late night joke for their super short marriage. As noted by USA Today, the reality star married music producer Damon Thomas in 2000 when she was only 19 years old; however, the two were divorced in 2004. Years later, she admitted while taping an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians that she was high on ecstasy during her wedding to Thomas (via USA Today).

Kim Kardashian sent fake pictures of North West to friends to see if they'd sell her out

Kim Kardashian has a clever trick for discovering who her friends are.

Everyone knows the old saying, “If you want to weed out bad friends, send them fake pictures of your newly born baby and see if anyone tries to sell them to a tabloid.” Okay, that’s not actually a thing people say; however, according to TMZ, that’s exactly what Kardashian and Kanye West did when their first daughter, North West, was born. Of course this probably only works if you are famous. Still, it just goes to show how fiercely protective Kardashian is of her kids — who lead an insanely glamorous life.

As reported by E! News, Kardashian opened up about her new life as a mom during a 2018 Calvin Klein campaign photo shoot. “Being a mom just not makes you give a f*ck about anything else but what’s immediately going on inside, like, in your home, in your family — all the other stuff kind of fades away,” Kardashian revealed. She continued, saying, “Nothing matters but your family, so I think it really helps you center and get grounded.”

She may show off her body, but Kim Kardashian battles major physical insecurities

Kim Kardashian may dress more modestly now, but the star never seemed shy about showing off her assets in the past. Regardless, Kardashian isn’t always overflowing with confidence in her appearance.

In a 2017 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the KKW Beauty founder became visibly distraught when she discovered that a tabloid magazine featured an unplanned photo of her wearing a bikini in Mexico (via Glamour). “You take pictures and people just body-shame you,” Kardashian revealed. She continued, saying, “It’s, like, literally giving me body dysmorphia.”

As she gained weight during her first pregnancy, the star struggled with body insecurities — despite having serious maternity style. In a 2015 interview with C Magazine (via E! News), Kardashian revealed that she’d gained over 50 pounds while pregnant, saying, “It was the worst. I couldn’t help it, and everyone would say, ‘She can’t stop eating.'” The star continued, saying, “I delivered [North West] at 180, and they were like, ‘She’s 210 pounds. She’s getting dumped because she’s too fat,’ and all these ridiculous stories. It really took a toll.”

Kim Kardashian doesn't post to Instagram in real time

Kim Kardashian’s outlook on social media has changed through the years.

Once upon a time, fans were able to follow Kardashian’s every move via social media. She would share all her comings and goings in real time and give followers a glimpse of her reality outside of her reality show. But, according to the star herself, when she was robbed in Paris in 2016, her perspective on sharing totally changed.

While onstage at The New York Times DealBook Conference in 2019, Kardashian revealed the harrowing experience made her realize she was giving people too much information. “They knew what I had, they knew where I was, what I was doing — and that, to me, really changed the things that I post,”  the star said. She continued, explaining that — despite the traumatizing experience — she still wants her Instagram followers to feel like they are privy to a behind-the-scenes look at her life. “I still want people to feel like they’re on that journey with me; but I might video something, then post it 30 minutes later when I’ve left the location,” Kardashian said.

Kim Kardashian hates her hands

Kim Kardashian may be a hands-on mom and businesswoman; however, her hands are actually a point of insecurity for this reality star.

In 2017, Kardashian took to her website to post 20 interesting and quirky facts about herself, with one of those tidbits revealing that she can’t stand having messy, unkempt nails (via Elle). “I have a nail file and cuticle cutter with me at all times … in my purse, travel bag, everywhere,” Kardashian wrote. She continued, revealing, “I’m obsessed with my nails and cuticles. If my nails are chipped or not perfect, I feel filthy.”

In a makeup tutorial video with YouTuber Patrick Starrr, Kardashian went so far to admit that she actually hates her hands (via Cosmopolitan). Referring to an Instagram post in which she debuted her engagement ring, Kardashian said, “One of my biggest photo regrets is when I got engaged and I had the shortest nails when I showed my picture. It would have looked so much better with long nails.” If it makes you feel better, Kim, we’re pretty sure you’re the only one who noticed your short nails.

Kim Kardashian, Martha Stewart and More Share Their Ultimate Cheat Meals

Even celebrities love to indulge every now and again, courtesy of some guilty pleasure foods or very elaborate cheat meals.

While Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s epic Sunday night cheat meals are in a league of their own, most stars are pretty reasonable when it comes to the high-calorie foods or dishes they simply can’t say no to.

Take Martha Stewart, for example. The legendary lifestyle guru told Us Weekly exclusively in February 2020 that her “guilty pleasure” food is simply “single slices of American cheese.” While that might not sound like a gluttonous choice, Stewart likely mentioned it because it’s not exactly the healthiest choice.

Unlike most cheeses, which are made by curdling milk, American cheese is a processed product that is made from a blend of milk, milk fats and solids, with other fats and whey protein concentrate, which means it’s typically packed with additives.

When Kim Kardashian is in the mood to indulge, her cravings run the gamut. “Eggos I guess or Top Ramen. But really that’s just at home,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star replied via a Twitter Q&A in February 2020 when asked to name her go-to cheat meal. “It depends what city I’m in,” she added.

In the past, Kardashian has also been known to satisfy her sweet tooth, which is something her oldest son, Saint, has inherited. On a “cheat night” documented via her Snapchat in October 2017, the Selfish author took matters into her own hands and mixed a “few scoops of ice cream and some Oreos” in a blender to whip up her own cookies and cream creation.

In August of the following year, the E! personality, who now maintains a plant-based diet while at home, explained her cheat meal philosophy on her website, writing, “When I grocery shop, I buy lean protein, carbs, fruits and veggies, but every once in a while, I like to treat myself and have a cheat meal. It can be so hard (and boring) to eat really clean all of the time.”

The Skims founder added: “A cheat meal allows me to enjoy food without feeling like I’m overindulging. My trainer, Mel [Alcantara], instructs that you should schedule a cheat meal about once every 10 days. This way you won’t lose any of the progress you’ve made at the gym.”

At the time, the reality star also noted that her preferred cheat meals were “desserts or other sweets.”

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Have Been ‘Arguing a Lot’ Amid Quarantine

Trouble at home. The coronavirus pandemic is testing everyone right now, and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are no exception.

“Kim and Kanye have been arguing a lot during the quarantine,” a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. “Kanye is really getting on Kim’s nerves.”

The 42-year-old rapper — who Forbes recently named a billionaire, thanks largely to his Yeezy sneaker line — has been “focused on creating” lately, according to the source. As a result, the 39-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star feels like “all the parenting duties are falling on her.”

Kardashian and West, who tied the knot in Italy in May 2014, are the parents of North, 6, Saint, 4, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 11 months.

“Kim finds it frustrating that [Kanye] doesn’t ask her how he can help with the kids,” the source tells Us.

This is not the first time that the couple have hit a rough patch. In 2016, a Kardashian friend told Us exclusively that the E! personality had “felt trapped” in her marriage “for a while.” However, she was dedicated to “being a supportive wife” on the heels of the Grammy winner’s much-publicized breakdown that November, according to the pal.

For more details on Kardashian and West’s life in quarantine, watch the video above and pick up the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now.

Kim Kardashian West Is Legit Getting Criticism for Yawning

When you’re in the spotlight as much as Kim Kardashian West, you’re bound to get your fair share of criticism. With over 167 million followers on Instagram alone, the 39-year-old is constantly under the microscope. Of course, there are plenty of things for fans to be judgmental of the KKW Fragrance owner about. Her highly publicized feuds with her sisters and penchant for blackfishing to name a few. However, sometimes the criticism she receives is fairly ridiculous.

Kardashian West recently came under fire after a clip of her family’s reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, was posted to Instagram. In the clip, the mom of four was out celebrating the birthday of Corey Gamble. Gamble is the boyfriend of Kardashian West’s mother, Kris Jenner, and though it took a while for the family to accept him, everyone seems to get along now.

For Gamble’s 39th birthday, Jenner, Kardashian West, and her sisters took him to a winery. During the celebration, Jenner got pretty tipsy and they all seemed to enjoy themselves. Whilst there, Gamble also played music from his phone and encouraged a seemingly sleepy Kardashian West to join him for a dance. Prior to this happening, the skims owner let out a long yawn, indicating how tired she was. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star failed to cover her mouth during the yawn, and now people are criticizing her on Instagram for the decision.

Some Instagram users found Kardashian West’s yawn to be in poor taste. Others found it to be on the gross side of things and began to call her out for “not having class.” “Somebody please tell Kim to cover her mouth while yawning, 😷” one person wrote in an Instagram comment, showing their disgust. “So rich but still doesn’t know to close her mouth while yawning,” another person chimed in, bringing Kardashian West net worth into the conversation.

Instagram users criticize the makeup mogul for yawning

Others even went so far as to argue that Kardashian West likely felt she was above closing her mouth because of her intense fame and wealth. “Everybody has to close their mouth while yawning. But like, they are ‘so rich and so modern’ and all that sh*t. They should know that they have to close their mouth while yawning. Like da*n why u gotta be like that,” one critic wrote on Instagram, denouncing the behavior.

Others didn’t find Kardashian West’s yawn offensive at all. They did, however, find it embarrassing and hilarious. Some couldn’t believe that the hopeful lawyer would allow footage like this to be posted for the world to see. “Wow, Kim opened her mouth to eternity,” one person declared in disbelief. “AHAHAHAH how does Kim allow you to post this,” one amused person chimed in.

Fans rush to Kardashian West’s defense

Alternatively, some people rushed to Kardashian West’s defense. They shared that she had no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed. Arguing that she was with her family, they felt she had no reason to put on airs. “There’s only family there, let’s give her a break on about the yawning,” one person stated. Clearly, quarantine has people nitpicking about the most foolish things. Kardashian West may be a polarizing person, but dragging her for yawning seems to be overkill.

Kim Jong-un sends message to South Africa despite death rumours

Kim Jong-un has sent a message to mark South Africa’s Freedom Day amid rumours that he died after undergoing surgery.

The North Korean leader, 36, congratulated President Cyril Ramaphosa on the national holiday and expressed the belief that relations between the two countries is growing ‘steadily stronger’, the KCNA reports.

It comes amid conflicting reports about Kim’s health, fuelled by his absence from the commemoration of the 108th birthday of his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, on April 15.

The Supreme Leader is reported to have undergone heart surgery at his family’s private hospital Mount Paektu, after collapsing in the countryside earlier this month.

Some reports indicate he had a stent fitted, which is a routine operation, but rumours suggest the surgeon made an error which proved to be fatal.

Vice director of HKSTV Hong Kong Satellite Television, Shijian Xingzou, said a ‘very solid source’ told her that Kim had died, while Japanese magazine Shukan Gendai reported the leader was in a ‘vegetative state’ after the procedure.

A team of Chinese medical experts were previously sent to advise on how to treat him. If Kim has died, his sister Kim Yo-jong is likely to take over as North Korea’s leader.

She has already been exercising significant influence within the government, an analyst at South Korea’s private Sejong Institute said.

Cheong Seong-Chang added that social upheaval would be unlikely in the event of the Supreme Leader’s death, as most members of Pyongyang’s leadership share an interest in North Korea staying within the Kim family.

However, on Sunday, a top official in South Korea denied reports that Kim had died on the operating table, stating that there were no ‘unusual developments’ in North Korea.

Unification minister Kim Yeon-chul said South Korea has ‘enough intelligence’ to confidently know what is happening in their neighbouring nation.

It follows a statement the office of South Korean President Moon Jae-in which said it had information Kim had been staying out of Pyongyang.

The spokesperson also said there had been no emergency readiness order issued by the North’s military or the ruling Workers’ Party, which would be expected if Kim was in a bad condition.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un 'gravely ill after surgery'

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is gravely ill after surgery, it has been claimed. CNN reported that the 36 year-old leader’s condition is being monitored by US intelligence officials, although the reason for his surgery has not been disclosed. Kim recently missed his grandfather’s birthday on April 15, raising speculation about his wellbeing.

The despotic leader was last seen four days previously at a government meeting. North Korea’s highly-secretive government has yet to comment on Kim’s alleged illness, or issue any sort of statement through its state-controlled media. South Korea and the United States are also yet to comment on Kim’s health.

President Trump famously met with Kim in Singapore in June 2018, becoming the first US president to meet with a North Korean leader.
