Royal Mail issue new stamps to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of poet William Wordsworth – The Sun

A SET of special stamps is being issued to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of poet William Wordsworth.

They also celebrate other Romantic bards including Lord Byron, William Blake and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Each of the ten stamps, on sale from Tuesday, includes an extract from one of their most popular works.

Wordsworth was born in 1770 and died in 1850.

His extract is from The Rainbow: “My heart leaps up when I behold. A rainbow in the sky.”

His early work was initially neglected, but in 1843, Queen Victoria made him Poet Laureate.

Royal Mail spokesman Philip Parker said: “The Romantic poets composed some of the most loved poetry of all time.

“Our striking new stamps celebrate the genius of their imaginations.”

Royal Mail worked with the award-winning biographer, Jonathan Bate, on the stamp issue.

The images are lino-cut illustrations by artist Linda Farquharson.

Prince Louis’ Royal Baby Album!

Duchess Kate and Prince William welcomed their third child, Prince Louis, on Monday, April 23, 2018, and the cuteness hasn’t stopped. From the first glimpse of Louis at the Lindo Wing to his christening, take a look back on the sweetest moments.

While the little one has made very few public appearances, his parents often speak fondly of him.

In January 2019, the Duchess of Cambridge told well-wishers outside of the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland, that Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s baby brother was “a fast crawler.”

The Duke of Cambridge joked in May 2018 that he was “looking for a babysitter.”

But Louis’ older sister may assume the responsibilities when she gets a little older — Charlotte is the baby’s greatest admirer, a source told Us Weekly exclusively the same month. “[She] is really enjoying having a younger brother to play with,” the insider said. “She’s taking her big sister duties very seriously. She won’t leave baby Louis’ side.”

As for his parents, “[William and Kate] are absolutely thrilled with having three [children],” a different source told Us after their third child’s arrival. “They are soaking up every minute they can. Their dream was always to have three kids. Kate knew she wanted a third not long after having Charlotte, but this time around they seem very content.”

Keep scrolling down to see Prince Louis’ baby album, featuring some of the royal’s most adorable moments.

Royal Watchers Think Princess Eugenie Just Hinted She Is Pregnant With Her First Child

Royal watchers are convinced that Princess Eugenie is pregnant with her first child. Eugenie, Duchess of York, recently shared a sweet Mother’s Day post on social media, and her comments have sparked speculation that she might be expecting with her husband, Jack Brooksbank. What are the chances that Eugenie is pregnant?

Princess Eugenie celebrates Mother’s Day

Eugenie was among several members of the royal family tocelebrate Mother’s Day by posting heartfelt notes on Instagram.

The Princess of York and her older sister, Princess Beatrice, are very close to their mother, Sarah Ferguson, and the siblings paid tribute to their mom with a special post on social media.

“Happy Mother’s Day!!” Eugenie shared on Instagram. “Today Iwant to celebrate my mumma but also all the amazing mothers out there.”

Princess Eugenie gave a shout-out to all of the moms across theUK, especially those who are not with their children as a precaution againstthe coronavirus outbreak. Eugenie praised these moms for “saving lives orkeeping their distance to keep them and their children safe.”

She added that everyone should take some time to tell their family members how much they love them. The post also featured several photos of Eugenie with her mom and older sister and left royal watchers speculating about a possible pregnancy.

Is Eugenie expectingher first child?

Eugenie is no stranger to pregnancy talk. She tied the knot withJack Brooksbank back in the fall of 2018 and has dealt with baby rumors eversince (something pretty common for a member of the royal family).

The pregnancy speculation heated up, however, following Eugenie’sMother’s Day post. According to Express, fans suspected that Eugenie was talking about herself when she wrote, “toall the amazing mothers out there.”

While fans are convinced that Princess Eugenie was teasing a pregnancy with her wording, betting agencies in the UK now believe she will be the next member of the royal family to have a baby.

“It’s looking increasingly likely another royal baby willsoon be on the way and the odds suggest it’s Eugenie who’ll be giving birthnext,” Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati shared.

Eugenie and her husband, of course, have not commented on thepregnancy rumors. We have no idea if the couple plans on starting a family, butat the age of 30, it is probably only a matter of time before they get started.

Princess Eugenie turns 30

Aside from Mother’s Day, Eugenie also celebrated her 30th birthday this week. Unfortunately, the birthday was a very low-key affair in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Members of the royal family have canceled public engagements and are spending time in self-isolation as a precaution against the spread of the virus.

For Eugenie, this means spending her birthday at home with fewguests. She has not said anything about her birthday plans, but there is littledoubt that she is engaging in social distancing.

Princess Eugenie was born in 1990 and is currently 10th in line to the throne. She is the youngest child of Sarah and Prince Andrew, who stepped down from his royal duties a few months ago.

Andrew was forced to quit his royal duties in light of hiscontroversial ties to Jeffrey Epstein. He has also been accused of sleepingwith one of Epstein’s sex traffic victims when she was underage.

Queen Elizabeth wishes Eugenie a happy birthday

While Princess Eugenie’s birthday was not a grand affair, Queen Elizabeth sent her well wishes on social media. Taking to Instagram, Her Majesty congratulated Eugenie on her birthday and shared a sweet photo of the two during an event.

Eugenie is not a full-time member of the royal family, though shedoes appear at most of the big events. This includes things like Trooping theColour, an engagement that could be canceled because of the pandemic.

Speaking of cancelations, Eugenie’s sister, Beatrice, has been forced to make big changes to her wedding. Beatrice was scheduled to tie the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at the end of May and is now looking at a significantly smaller ceremony.

Beatrice has also canceled her reception, which was supposed totake place inside the gardens at Buckingham Palace after the wedding. Althoughthe ceremony will be trimmed down, Eugenie is fully expected to attend.

Princess Eugenie has not commented on the rumors about herpregnancy.

Royal Ballet and Liam Scarlett part ways after an investigation

The British choreographer Liam Scarlett on Tuesday left his position as the Royal Ballet's artist-in-residence, after an investigation into accusations of sexual misconduct with dance students.

Mr Scarlett will "no longer work with, or for, the Royal Ballet," the company said in a statement, which added that a seven-month, independent investigation the company commissioned "found there were no matters to pursue in relation to alleged contact with students of the Royal Ballet School".

A spokesman for the Royal Ballet said the company would not comment further on the announcement. Mr Scarlett did not immediately answer an email requesting his response.

Mr Scarlett, once heralded as a "choreographic wonder boy of British ballet" by The New York Times, has created works for dance companies worldwide, including Australia's Queensland Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. This month, the Royal Ballet was forced to end the sold-out run of his Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House after the coronavirus pandemic shut down the venue.

The Royal Ballet learned of the allegations against Mr Scarlett in August; though the company didn't disclose them at the time, it suspended Mr Scarlett immediately.

This episode is the latest in a string of misconduct scandals that have hit the ballet world. At the end of 2017, Peter Martins, the leader of New York City Ballet, retired after accusations of abuse were made against him. A company investigation did not corroborate the accusations, which Mr Martins denied.

Last year, an arbitrator ordered New York City Ballet to reinstate two male dancers it had fired after they were accused of sharing sexually explicit photos of female dancers.

Royal fans claim baby Prince Edward 'looks like Prince Louis'

Royal fans claim baby Prince Edward ‘looks like Prince Louis’ after the Queen shared a throwback snap of her youngest son to mark his 56th birthday

  • Royal fans have claimed a young Prince Edward looks just like Prince Louis, one
  • Comes after Queen, 94, shared throwback snap of Earl of Wessex on 56 birthday
  • One fan wrote ‘Wow!!!! That looks like Prince Louis’ and others quickly agreed

Royal fans have claimed baby Prince Edward looks like his great-nephew Prince Louis after the Royal Family shared a sweet throwback snap of the Earl of Wessex to celebrate his 56th birthday on Tuesday.

Taking to the official Instagram account, the Queen, 93, paid tribute to her youngest son, sharing a picture of Edward as a baby in 1965, alongside Prince Philip, and a young Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew.

‘Happy birthday to The Earl of Wessex, who celebrates his 56th birthday today,’ the caption read.

But royal fans couldn’t help but notice the striking similarity between Edward and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest son, Prince Louis, one, at the same age.

Royal fans claimed baby Prince Edward looks the spitting image of Prince Louis, one, after the Queen, 93, paid tribute to her youngest son, sharing a picture of him as a baby in 1965 on the Royal Family Instagram account

One royal fan wrote: ‘Looks like Louis,’ while a second agreed: ‘Wow!!!! That looks like Prince Louis’ (pictured)

‘Looks like Louis,’ enthused one, while a second agreed: ‘I’m happy to see that Prince Louis looks after his uncle who is an amazing human being. Happy Birthday HRH. May your life be long and filled with happy and joyful love.’

A third added: ‘Wow!!!! That looks like Prince Louis.’

Meanwhile, others took to the comments section to say how they thought young Prince Edward also looked like Prince William and Prince George.

‘Prince Edward baby looks like George and Louis little bit,’ suggested one, while a second commented: ‘He looks like Prince William.’

And taking to Twitter, the royal family posted a picture of the Queen explaining the details of the Trooping of the Colour to her youngest son Prince Edward at Buckingham Palace in 1972

Also in the original photograph was Prince Philip, and a young Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew

‘Happy birthday to The Earl of Wessex, who celebrates his 56th birthday today,’ the caption on the Royal Family Instagram read

The adorable post has since garnered 185, 000 likes and hundreds of comments – with one well-wisher writing: ‘So cute!! He still has the same face!!’.

Another added: ‘So Happy Ed got a happy family!’, while a further commented: ‘Queen Elizabeth looks so gorgeous’.

Elsewhere one even claimed: ‘Prince George looks exactly like young Prince Edward’.

Edward was born on 10 March 1964 and is the third son and youngest child of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Earl of Wessex spent his birthday visiting a local community centre in Mersea Island alongside his wife, Sophie Wessex.

He looked delighted to be handed a giant yellow birthday card from a young local, shortly before he opted to elbow bump rather than shake hands with a fan amid the growing concerns for coronavirus.

A delighted Prince Edward crouched down after being given a handmade birthday card during a visit to a local community centre on his birthday on Wednesday

Royal Fans Think Meghan Markle Pushed Prince Harry Out of the Way in PDA Video

A moment captured on video between Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex shows a sweet PDA gesture, but some fans and critics believe it demonstrates Meghan being selfish and controlling. A dispute kicked off on Twitter over whether Meghan was touching Prince Harry gently on the back out of love or because she wanted him to step aside.

Meghan and Harry’s PDA was on display

Prince Harry and Meghan attended the Endeavour Fund Awards on Mar. 5, where they met with award attendees and chatted them up at the event. A video that showed Meghan placing a hand on Harry’s shoulder appeared to be a bit of subtle PDA, but some royal fans thought she was actually signaling him to move aside.

Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English posted the video to herTwitter account, captioning it, “some familiar Harry and Meghan PDA’S tonight.”Not everyone saw it quite that way, however, as they believed she wasnon-verbally telling him to step aside so she could speak with the guest.

Critics took aim, but others defended Meghan

A debate waged on, with fans and critics commenting on Twitter. One Twitter user noted: “That isn’t PDA. That was Meghan interrupting their conversation, pulling him back so she could step in front of him to take over the conversation. I don’t care, it’s their marriage and I will never judge about that. But the video is clear, please don’t mislead or sugar coat.”

Another fan agreed, tweeting: “I don’t see that as a PDA. she’s always touching him and guiding him, see how he gives way to her here… this happens constantly. I don’t like that…it’s not a PDA…it’s quite controlling.”

Still others tweeted: “That’s not PDA! That’s the familiar push him out of the way which she has always done” and “Always pushing herself in front of Harry.”

There were some who defended the Sussexes, however, with one fan tweeting: “So many body language specialists here. All these comments seem like we’re not all watching the same video. I just see a couple that clearly love and respect each other. Maybe the problem is that too many people aren’t familiar with what that looks and feels like?”

Another person tweeted: “She’s clearly nudging past him to introduce herself to the next person. She isn’t trying to take control, she’s trying to not be rude. They need to greet everyone and only have so much time.”

Tonight in London, for their third consecutive year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Endeavour Fund Awards, which celebrates the achievements of those veterans injured in service who have taken part in remarkable sporting and adventure challenges over the last year. By choosing to take on what seems impossible, these men and women not only set goals for themselves but have also inspired millions of people around the world. These annual awards bring together The Duke and The Duchess alongside wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and veterans as well as their families, friends and supporters of the military community. The Duke, who founded the @EndeavourFund, spoke on the night: • “The Endeavour Fund came from seeing the gaping hole that can be left after taking off that uniform. The power that sport and adventurous challenge plays in recovery, yes; but most of all – the chance to be part of a team again while attempting to achieve unthinkable challenges – as if being shot or blown up wasn’t enough, you guys continue to impress, inspire and challenge what it means to have a life changing injury.” • Since its launch in 2012, the Endeavour Fund has supported 108 projects that have directly assisted over 6,000 of those injured in service. Congratulations to all those who participated in endeavours over the last year and inspired others to push the boundaries of what’s possible! #EndeavorFundAwards

Their body language was revealing

Body language expert Judi James noted that Meghan’s look at the event was “a much more showbiz looking version” of her, telling Express that Meghan’s “dazzling smile completed the look.”

“Harry’s eyes gleamed with delight and his wide, upturnedsmile that bared his upper teeth and rounded his blushing cheeks suggestedhappiness and pride as he led his wife by the arm,” James added. “Thisappearance as a couple looked all about sending signals of unity and happiness.”

“This suggests the move away from the royal firm was a decision they both endorsed and that they both gained strength from,” she noted.

It also encouraged followers to ‘tag an inspiring woman in your life and tell us what IWD means to you’, and promised more behind the scenes moments ‘coming soon’.

The video notched up more than 429,960 views in an hour, with many tagging the duchess in their comments.

In one of her last solo engagements as a working royal, Meghan – who also revealed that 10-month-old Archie is trying to walk – spoke with delighted pupils and met one of the women who fought a historic equal pay battle in the nearby Ford car plant.

In a speech addressing the school’s boys in particular, she urged them to ‘continue to value and appreciate the women in your lives and also set the example for some men who are not seeing it that same way’.

‘You have your mothers, sisters, girlfriends, friends in your life, protect them,’ she said.

Meghan smiled broadly at two of the school’s youngest pupils, 11-year-olds Fiona Addai and Harvi Shehi, who both appeared shocked as she approached and asked their names.

The duchess thanked Fiona after the youngster presented her with a small bouquet of purple and white flowers. Fiona later said: ‘I was so happy, I thought I was going to faint.’

The Duchess of Sussex was joined on stage by head boy Aker Okoye during her visit to the Robert Clack Upper School in Dagenham

Meghan embraced a thrilled Aker Okoye during a school assembly as part of a visit to Robert Clack School in Essex, yesterday, in support of International Women’s Day

Meghan also marked the 50th anniversary of the Equal Pay Act on her visit to the school.

Her choice of location was noteworthy as strikes in the 1960s by female sewing machinists at the nearby Ford Motor Plant triggered the passing of the legislation. That struggle was depicted in the 2010 film Made in Dagenham.

Meghan told around 700 pupils in an assembly: ‘I think being able to be in Dagenham is incredibly profound… It is the best example of no matter how small you might feel, how low you may feel on the ladder or the totem pole, no matter what colour you are, no matter what gender you are, you have a voice and you certainly have the right to speak up for what is right.’

She sat among Year 9 students in the library who had been studying women’s literature and poems and tried to encourage one pupil to read her poem aloud, quietly praising her for her work.

After seeing another student had been studying Maya Angelou, Meghan asked her why she liked the poet and said: ‘She’s incredible, isn’t she?’

Meghan also visited the school’s art studio, where she was made an honorary member of the Robert Clack Debate Society and awarded a team jersey.

The Duchess of Sussex later asked for a male volunteer to explain their view on the importance of International Women’s Day.

Head boy Aker Okoye, 16, jumped at the chance to take to the stage. Greeting her with what appeared to be a kiss on the cheek, he told his fellow pupils: ‘She really is beautiful. I had to speak the truth there.’

With a smile, Meghan praised Aker’s ‘incredible confidence’.

Shortly before she left the hall to cheers and loud applause, Meghan had a photo taken with the students, who posed with their arms in an equals sign in reference to the International Women’s Day campaign theme ‘EachforEqual’.

Last night Prince Harry and Meghan attended the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall.

The couple received a long round of applause and a standing ovation from the audience as they took their seats.

Royal British Legion bingo players ordered into quarantine after one catches coronavirus – The Sun

BINGO players at a Royal British Legion club were ordered into quarantine after one caught coronavirus from a close relative.

Twenty-five have been told to self-isolate after the card-marker tested positive.

Public Health England notified bingo club bosses in Hindhead — only three miles from Haslemere, the centre of Surrey’s outbreak.

So far, four people have been struck down in the county.

A bingo player from the club said: “Everyone who was at Tuesday’s night’s bingo draw has been told to go home and stay there for 14 days because one person who was here then has tested positive.

“Public Health England have refused to give out the name but we know that they are a member.”

The Legion called for calm and said a deep clean was under way.

Officials were trying to trace people contacted by two of the others infected in Surrey — a husband and wife — as they have not been abroad.

The woman is living in one room at the family’s home, with meals delivered to her door.

She told BBC Surrey: “Every time you hand back a plate, even though they are wearing gloves and everything is going straight into the dishwasher, you feel guilty you’re handing them death.”

Their son, who goes to a local prep school, is also in self-isolation. He has not yet tested positive.

Meanwhile, a dentist who visited Italy recently was yesterday confirmed as one of the new cases.

Dr Richard Prais, whose practice is at Hampstead Garden Suburb in North London, has self-isolated.

He was diagnosed after passing through Milan airport last week.

Renee Zellweger, 50, has cancelled an appearance at the premiere of her movie, Judy, in Japan which has seen 1,000 cases and 12 deaths.

The Bridget Jones star, who won an Oscar for the film, will instead do interviews by Skype.

And socialite Jemima Goldsmith, 46, insisted she was “still not packing” after her neighbours in London left in an ambulance with medics in hazmat suits.

She joked: “My (hypochondriac) son is now convinced he has a strain so insidious it has no symptoms.”

Earlier, she was blasted for making light of the virus by saying it was certain to kill her because she was “deeply unworried” about it.

Love Bug Warning

MILLIONS of Tinder singletons are being warned to take coronavirus precautions when meeting dates via the app.

Even a goodnight kiss looks out of the question as potential love-birds are being urged to keep a “social distance”.

They are also being reminded to wash their hands thoroughly, carry hand sanitiser and avoid touching their faces.

The warning says: “While we want you to continue to have fun, protecting yourself from the coronavirus is more important.”

One user joked: “Don’t worry Tinder. I don’t get any matches to spread coronavirus to.”

Royal Security Expert: Prince Harry, Meghan Will 'Lose Support Network'

Safety first! A lot will change once Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially step down from their royal duties on March 31, including their royal security detail.

“Ultimately you lose the support network that is in place around both principals at the moment,” former royal protection officer Simon Morgan told Us Weekly exclusively in the latest installment of Royally Us.

As it stands now in the U.K., protection for senior royals is made up of the U.K. law enforcement, which is the police service responsible for the Royal family and within that group, the Metropolitan Police service.

“You have warranted police officers. You have the security services that all dovetail into each other to create that protection package that’s replicated on a local scale with regard to London, then a national scale within the U.K.,” Morgan explained to Us on Wednesday, February 26. “And then a global scale around global law enforcement and security services throughout the world.”

Following their part time move to Canada in January 2020, the Canadian government funded a temporary security team to assist the couple. As of March 2020 that will change.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex choosing to relocate to Canada on a part-time basis presented our government with a unique and unprecedented set of circumstances,” a statement from Public Safety Canada to Us on Thursday, February 27, read. “The RCMP has been engaged with officials in the U.K. from the very beginning regarding security considerations. As the duke and duchess are currently recognized as Internationally Protected Persons, Canada has an obligation to provide security assistance on an as-needed basis.”

The statement continued, “At the request of the Metropolitan Police, the RCMP has been providing assistance to the Met since the arrival of the Duke and Duchess to Canada intermittently since November 2019. The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status.”

Buckingham Palace said on January 18 that they would not “comment on the details of security arrangements” in regard to the couple. “There are well established independent process to determine the need for publicly-funded security,” the statement read at the time.

Once the family does end their current duties for the royal family and are no longer working members, as outlined last month, there will be a security shakeup of some sort.

“You basically lose the immediate connection that [one] has if their security is no longer provided by the Metropolitan Police service,” Morgan, who worked for the royals from 2007 to 2013 added. “I do say if, because, obviously, we’re still in a bit of a flux at the moment and nobody quite knows how that’s going to look like going forward.”

No matter what the safety situation becomes once the pair’s new lives as non-royals begin — publicly funded or covered privately — Morgan said there will never be a time in which Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, will not need some sort of protection.

“No, it is a very basic and positive answer,” he told Us about the possibility of the couple calling off all their security at some point.

Despite the fact that Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, famously decided to forgo a personal protection officer, and instead hire private security, based on the duo’s celebrity status they don’t have the same option.

“You are looking at two global icons. You’re looking at a senior member of the British royal family. You’re looking at a war veteran who completed two operational tours of Afghanistan,” Morgan pointed out. “The threat level against that particular individual is extremely high. So, therefore when you put it all together and you look at the associated risks of being a member of the royal family — the terrorist threat around that, whether it be religious or political — the single issue causes that will also look to gain some form of advantage by possibly attacking those particularly in schools, and then the fixated threat, as well.”

He added: “The threat is a real, large phenomenon certainly within the royal family and within the entertainment industry, as well. That threat isn’t going to go away.”
