THIS week's Casualty will see Charlie buckle under the strain of wife Duffy's death.
The long-serving nurse was suffering from dementia when she had a fatal seizure last month.
A CT scan showed that a pre-existing bleed on the brain had escalated and there was nothing that could be done for her, leaving Charlie (Derek Thompson) devastated.
This week, Charlie continues to struggle with his grief, and his lack of engagement at work begins to concern his colleagues, including Jacob (Charles Venn).
Jacob gently suggests to Charlie he might need more time off to come to terms with his loss, but Charlie insists he's fine.
However, a situation later in the episode reveals this is far from the truth, as Charlie fails to help junior nurse Jade treat a head wound.
This jeopardises the patient's wellbeing, and forces Jacob to take action.
He heads to see the Head of Nursing – Holby City's Fletch – behind Charlie's back, but what will be the outcome?
Elsewhere, Ethan (George Rainsford) get the shock of his life when Fenisha – a woman he recently had a one night stand with – turns up at the hospital.
Fenisha is there for her first shift as a paramedic and while Ethan is delighted to see her, she doesn't seem as thrilled, having failed to return his calls after their night of passion.
In a further twist, Ethan's friend Will takes a shine to Fenisha and the pair arrange a date at the end of their shift.
When Ethan asks Will who he is meeting, Will remains tight lipped, but an awkward love triangle appears to be on the cards.
Meanwhile Rash faces his fears as he stands in for Archie at an in-hospital conference for junior doctors, and learns to trust his judgement in the process.
Casualty airs on Saturday, March 14 at 9.15pm on BBC One.
